How to interpret these card prices
A market estimate is not a completed sale
A market-price figure is a reference for comparing cards, not a promise that a buyer will pay that amount or that a seller can purchase a copy for it. The sources do not establish a guaranteed checkout price or the current best offer. TCGplayer search results showed listings and market-price examples, but the page indicated JavaScript limitations, so they do not support a comprehensive live-offer comparison: TCGplayer Surging Sparks search.

Condition, printing and grade matter
The ranking is for Near Mint copies, not graded cards. A card’s price can differ with its condition, the specific printing being compared, and whether it is raw or professionally graded. Keep the card number and rarity attached to the name: Pikachu ex 238/191, 247/191 and 219/191 are separate entries with very different values in this snapshot. A graded-card price should not be compared directly with a raw Near Mint estimate without labeling that difference.
Snapshots can differ
GradeWorthy’s September 17, 2026 raw-card snapshot also placed Pikachu ex #238, Latias ex #239 and Milotic ex #237 in the top three, but at $285.74, $186.75 and $124.27, respectively. GradeWorthy defines these as raw, ungraded prices for the most expensive printing of each card number; TCG Vault’s later figures are Near Mint estimates. The date and measurement basis therefore matter when comparing the numbers. See GradeWorthy’s Surging Sparks price and completion analysis.

Surging Sparks set size and completion cost
The English Surging Sparks expansion was released November 8, 2024. TCG Vault’s checklist counts 252 card numbers: 191 in the numbered main set and 61 secret rares numbered above 191.
TCG Vault estimated that one Near Mint copy of each of those 252 card numbers, using the cheapest printing available for each, would cost about $1,188 as of October 7, 2026. GradeWorthy’s September 17, 2026 estimate was about $1,234 for one copy of each number using cheapest printings. GradeWorthy excluded reverse holos and other parallel printings; its calculation also attributed $780, or 63% of the completion cost, to the 11 Special Illustration Rares, with the five most expensive cards accounting for 58% of the total. These are each publisher’s dated calculations, not fixed prices for completing the set.

Does a valuable Surging Sparks card deserve grading?
Not automatically. A high raw-card estimate alone does not show that grading will be profitable. GradeWorthy’s model accounts for grading fees, shipping and insurance, selling fees, the chance of receiving a top grade, and the sale price needed to break even; its result changes substantially when assumptions change.
For an individual card, inspect its condition and compare the current grading-service fees with recent sales for that exact card and grade before deciding. A small condition flaw can affect the grade, and the grading and selling costs reduce what a seller ultimately keeps. A price ranking is not an investment forecast or a recommendation to grade.

Why these cards lead the list
The October 2026 ranking is heavily concentrated at the top: the three leading cards are Special Illustration Rares, and the leading Pikachu ex 238/191 is nearly twice the listed value of Latias ex 239/191. The next Pikachu ex version in the ranking, the Hyper Rare 247/191, is $78.69—well below the top card despite sharing the same Pokémon name. That gap is a useful reminder to identify the exact numbered card rather than searching or pricing only by character.
Surging Sparks has a 252-card-number checklist, and TCG Vault’s list reflects its cheapest printing for set completion while the ranking above reports Near Mint market-price estimates for specific cards. Those are different comparisons: a completion budget should not be treated as the cost of buying each card in the most valuable version.
