The Target Labor Day deals described in 2026 coverage are over, and the evidence does not support the title’s “up to 85% off” claim. TODAY’s September 7, 2026 article reported discounts of up to 74% and named deals across home, clothing, kitchen, toys and more. Those were time-sensitive offers, not prices to rely on now.
What were the best Target Labor Day deals?
TODAY’s article, updated September 7, 2026, said Target’s Labor Day event began August 30 and reported discounts of up to 74%. It highlighted fashion, kitchen appliances, toys, clothing, shoes, accessories and cleaning essentials, along with buy-one-get-one promotions. The article did not establish that 74% was the independently verified maximum across every Target offer.

The article named a Universal Thread cotton V-neck shirt, Hydro Flask bottles, shoes, kitchen gear and toys. One specific example was a Threshold Lidded Glass Pumpkin Jar Candle listed at $5. The article also described another candle at 50% off. These are historical examples from that article, not verified current prices or availability.
TODAY disclosed that its article was paid for by Target, that its editorial team independently selected products, and that the publisher could earn commission through links. Treat its product and discount descriptions as claims from that dated shopping guide, rather than as a comprehensive or independently audited ranking of 50 deals. Was Target really offering up to 85% off?
The reviewed sale coverage does not substantiate 85%. TODAY reported “up to 74% off” in its September 7, 2026 guide. Neither figure establishes the discount on every product, and the available information does not independently verify the event-wide maximum. The accurate way to describe the reported headline discount is “up to 74%, according to TODAY’s September 7 article,” not as a guaranteed savings rate.
Are those Labor Day prices still available?
No current availability is established for the Labor Day examples. Target’s later Circle Deal Days event ran October 6–7, 2026, with early access beginning October 5 for Target Circle 360 members; those dates had passed by October 8. Target’s September 15 announcement described that separate event as offering up to 40% off thousands of items, but it should not be confused with the Labor Day sale. Target also announced September 29 that it was lowering prices on nearly 2,000 home and apparel/accessories items. Examples in that release included women’s long-sleeve tees at $12, down from $15; Threshold queen comforters at $69, down from $89; Room Essentials queen comforters at $40, down from $50; and Threshold performance queen sheets at $50, down from $55. These were examples at the time of the release, not promises of current prices. For any purchase, check the live Target listing and your local store’s price and inventory before relying on an old deal description. Target’s broader deals pages are dynamic, so a current promotion needs to be checked at the time you shop. Target deals.

How to judge whether a sale price is a good deal
- Check the current listing. Compare the price shown for your location with the dated price in any old sale article.
- Read the promotion terms. A percentage discount, a buy-one-get-one offer and a marked-down price do not calculate savings in the same way.
- Compare like for like. Check the same model, size or pack quantity at other retailers; a headline discount alone does not prove an item is the best value.
- Account for eligibility. Confirm whether an offer requires a membership, applies only online or in store, or excludes your location.
- Buy for a real need. A deal saves money only if the item is worth buying at the price you will actually pay.
