The title’s claim of 53 deals starting at $2 cannot be verified from the available sale coverage, and the promotions it describes have ended. Amazon’s U.S. “New Year, Now You” shop and Japan’s “Amazon 初売り” were separate campaigns with different dates and terms—not one interchangeable list of current bargains.
What Amazon’s 2026 New Year promotions actually were
For shoppers in the United States, USA TODAY reported on Dec. 29, 2025, that Amazon had launched a “New Year, Now You” shop focused on resolutions and lifestyle goals. It covered wellness, fitness, home, and beauty products, was available through Jan. 31, 2026, and did not require Prime membership, according to USA TODAY.
Amazon Japan’s separate annual “Amazon 初売り” sale ran from Jan. 3, 2026, at 9:00 through Jan. 7 at 23:59 Japan time, according to its official announcement. The five-day event featured categories such as Amazon devices, appliances, daily necessities, fashion, food, and beverages. Amazon said sale selections would center on products rated 3.5 stars or higher by customers and that hundreds of varieties of lucky bags would be available. Those were Amazon’s selection and event claims, not independent confirmation of product quality or savings.
Tom’s Guide also covered January sales at Amazon and other retailers on Jan. 1, 2026, including Amazon devices, Skechers, Lego, Carhartt, YETI, and TVs. That coverage is historical and disclosed that purchases through its site could earn it an affiliate commission: Tom’s Guide’s January sales coverage.

Why the “53 deals from $2” claim is not established
The available sources do not document a verified list of 53 products or an offer priced at $2. The named products in the U.S. shopping coverage show examples of items included in the shop; they do not establish the article title’s full count, starting price, current inventory, or current price. Amazon’s Japan announcement likewise does not verify a $2 starting price.
Because the U.S. and Japanese promotions were distinct, a deal list also needs to identify its marketplace. A price, product selection, and campaign condition from Amazon.co.jp should not be presented as if it applied to Amazon.com, or vice versa.

Japan sale features and campaign conditions
Amazon Japan’s announcement gave the event the theme 「いい一年を、笑顔ではじめよう。」—“Start a good year with a smile.” It also described a Stamp Rally offering a chance to win up to 45,000 limited-time Amazon points. That was a prize opportunity, not a guaranteed award: entry and eligible actions were required, terms and odds applied, point expiration rules mattered, and eligible stamp actions could vary by customer.
