Is The Rainmaker a PVOD hit?
There is no published PVOD sales, rental-revenue, or transactional-ranking figure for USA Network’s The Rainmaker in the official announcements cited here. USA Network called the show a hit when it renewed it, but the figures it gave describe audience viewership—not paid video-on-demand transactions. Those are different measures, so the network’s audience claim cannot establish that the series was a PVOD hit.

In its October 23, 2025 renewal announcement, USA Network said the first nine premiere episodes averaged 1.3 million total viewers. It also characterized the series as its most-viewed freshman show in seven years by total cross-platform viewership to that point. The release said the finale was the season’s most-viewed episode on USA Network. None of those statements reports rentals, purchases, or PVOD revenue. Read the network’s renewal announcement.
Is Season 2 uncertain?
No. USA Network announced the renewal on October 23, 2025. On September 9, 2026, it announced that the ten-episode second season would premiere Friday, October 16, 2026, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. That premiere date was still in the future on October 8, 2026, the date of the availability snapshot cited below; the announcement establishes the schedule, not that the episodes had already aired.

PVOD refers to premium video on demand: paid access to a title through a transactional service, typically as a rental or purchase rather than access included with a subscription. To substantiate a claim that a particular title is a PVOD hit, a report would need to identify the work and provide relevant transactional evidence, such as sales or rental results, revenue, or a clearly scoped ranking. It should also specify the date and territory. The official The Rainmaker announcements cited above provide none of those measures.

The sources cited here concern USA Network’s legal-drama series inspired by John Grisham’s novel. A headline about a “PVOD hit” could refer to a different film or property with the same title; the evidence here does not connect PVOD performance figures to another work.
