The clearest figures are dated estimates from Wealth-X’s 2015 list of Hollywood movie moguls—not a current top 15 of people whose primary job is producing. That list put George Lucas at $5.4 billion, Steven Spielberg at $3.3 billion and Jerry Bruckheimer at $850 million. Those figures belong to Wealth-X and 2015; they should not be read as current net worth.
What the published figures can—and cannot—tell you
Net worth rankings are estimates, not audited personal balance sheets. A figure is meaningful only alongside its publisher, date and definition of who counts as a producer. Lists using different boundaries can produce different names and orders, so combining their figures into one supposed definitive ranking would be misleading.
Wealth-X’s 2015 list was framed around Hollywood movie moguls. Forbes México’s 2015 list covered entertainment moguls whose net worth was at least 60% tied to entertainment businesses. Stacker’s May 2022 list, drawing on Celebrity Net Worth data, included people with movie or television producing or executive-producing histories, regardless of their main occupation. These are distinct categories, not interchangeable rankings.
Dated estimates for three prominent Hollywood figures
| Person | Published estimate | Source and date | Scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| George Lucas | $5.4 billion | Wealth-X, 2015 | Hollywood movie mogul; Wealth-X said most of his wealth came from Star Wars franchise revenue and Lucasfilm’s sale to Disney. |
| Steven Spielberg | $3.3 billion | Wealth-X, 2015 | Hollywood movie mogul. |
| Jerry Bruckheimer | $850 million | Wealth-X, 2015 | Hollywood movie mogul. |
These are historical estimates, not current valuations. The available evidence does not provide a complete set of comparable estimates for 15 producers, so it cannot support a responsible current top-15 order.

Why Lucasfilm’s sale price is not Lucas’s net worth
Forbes reports that Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012 for $4.1 billion in stock and cash. That is the value of the transaction, not a statement of Lucas’s current net worth or the amount he personally retained after the sale. Forbes’ profile page, updated September 15, 2026, describes the transaction; it does not make the sale price interchangeable with a present-day personal-wealth estimate.

- Check the date. A figure published in 2015 is a historical estimate, even if it remains widely repeated.
- Check who qualifies. A list limited to film producers differs from one including television producers, executive producers or entertainment-business owners.
- Check what wealth is counted. Some lists focus on entertainment wealth or business ownership; others use a broader estimate of personal net worth.
- Keep publisher and rank together. Do not attach a number from one list to an order from another and imply they used the same method.
A defensible current top 15 would require one consistent as-of date, a clear definition of producer, and comparable estimates for every person included. The published figures above do not meet that standard.
