The best-documented standout is 50 Cent’s 2003 purchase of Mike Tyson’s former Connecticut mansion for a reported $4.1 million. But the available reporting does not substantiate ten verified purchases, so this is not a padded top-ten list: it covers the notable purchases and commissions that can be attributed, and separates them from costly items rappers merely reviewed.
50 Cent’s $4.1 million Connecticut mansion
In 2003, Forbes reported that 50 Cent bought former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson’s mansion in Farmington, Connecticut, for $4.1 million. The home was reported to span about 50,000 square feet and contain 52 rooms, including five Jacuzzis and a movie theater. Its scale—not just its price—makes it the clearest example of an extravagant rapper purchase in the available reporting. Forbes’ 2003 report
Forbes later reported that 50 Cent sold the property for $2.9 million in 2019, after it had spent years on and off the market. The later account described a 25-bedroom, 19-bathroom layout and extensive entertainment amenities. The difference between the reported purchase and sale prices does not, by itself, establish his overall profit or loss: renovation, ownership, and transaction costs are not accounted for by those two figures. 50 Cent’s luxury vehicles and customizations
A 2013 Forbes profile traced several vehicles associated with 50 Cent. It reported that he bought a Lamborghini Murciélago after the release of his second album and had it painted chrome. The profile also listed a Ferrari convertible, a Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle, and a Bentley Mulsanne. As historical reporting, this is not a reliable inventory of what he owns today. The same profile said his first vehicle was a Toyota Land Cruiser, bought in 1994, followed by a Mercedes-Benz 400 SEL. Those early cars provide context for the later luxury-car stories, but the standout detail is the reported chrome finish on the Lamborghini: a costly vehicle made more conspicuous through customization.
Busta Rhymes’s diamond-covered Cuban chain
Complex reported in 2023 that Busta Rhymes commissioned a Cuban-link chain from jeweler TraxNYC. The jeweler described it as 54 millimeters wide and fully set with more than 10,000 diamonds. Complex did not establish a verified price, so the chain’s reported specifications—not an assumed dollar value—are the sound basis for calling it extravagant. Complex’s report

Complex also reported Rhymes’s reaction to the piece: “The craftsmanship on this shit is beautiful, man.” That expresses his response to the chain; it is not independent verification of its cost or value.
Expensive things 2 Chainz featured—but did not necessarily buy
2 Chainz’s GQ series Most Expensivest is an easy source of eye-catching price tags, but appearing on the show does not mean he purchased the item. GQ’s retrospective describes him evaluating costly goods and sorting some into things he would and would not buy. GQ’s series retrospective

One GQ segment featured diamond-covered shoes priced at $2 million. The page says 2 Chainz would not buy them at that price, making them a particularly clear example of why a featured product should not be counted as one of his purchases. GQ’s diamond-shoe segment
Likewise, GQ’s On the Rocks page shows 2 Chainz discussing his jewelry collection but does not establish an extravagant price for an individual piece. GQ’s jewelry segment VICE’s profile of Berco’s Popcorn reports that the product included edible gold flakes and gives a price from 2017; that is a product anecdote, not evidence that a rapper bought it. The examples above are not ten comparable, verified purchases. They include a documented property purchase and later sale, vehicles described in a retrospective profile, a jeweler-attributed commission, and expensive products shown on television. Those categories should not be treated as interchangeable—or inflated into a ranking with rumors, props, or unverified prices.
For the clearest answer to “What is the most expensive thing a rapper has bought?” in this set of reporting, 50 Cent’s $4.1 million mansion is the strongest documented example. That conclusion is limited to the purchases covered here; it is not proof that no rapper has made a more expensive purchase.
