R2E-Pack’s current packaging range is not plastic-free: it is centered on polyethylene products, with paper bags also listed. The company promotes Nor-X additive-treated polyethylene as oxo-biodegradable, but the information on its website does not independently establish the material’s environmental performance. For business buyers, the practical question is which format meets product and market requirements—and what evidence supports its disposal claims.
What does R2E-Pack currently offer?
R2E-Pack describes itself as an importer and exporter of polyethylene packaging, including LD, MD, HD, LLD and metallocene materials. Its catalog includes handle bags, courier envelopes, food and garbage bags, bread packaging, industrial shrink wrap, flexible packaging and paper bags. The company says it can customize dimensions and specifications and provide printing and design services; its stated production process includes extrusion, graphic design, printing, and cutting and packaging. Its claim of more than 30 years of experience is company-reported.
The business characterizes its offering as “Custom polyethylene and biodegradable packaging solutions, built with precision, backed by decades of experience.” That is R2E-Pack’s promotional positioning, not an independent assessment of the products’ environmental effects. Formats are designed for different uses
For flexible packaging, R2E-Pack lists heat-sealable plastic-film formats such as flat pouches, side-gusseted pouches and bags, sachets and Doypack sachets for food and non-food products. Its wicket bags are described as regular or high-clarity LDPE, with options such as gussets and ventilation holes, for uses including produce, bread and confectionery. The company says these bags can be packed automatically, semi-automatically or by hand, and that an additive option is available. Does R2E-Pack make plastic-free packaging?
Not across its current range. The catalog is largely polyethylene packaging, alongside paper bags. The paper option means a buyer can ask about a non-plastic format, but it does not make the company’s overall offering plastic-free. Nor does the catalog establish that paper is automatically the lower-impact choice for every product or supply chain.
Before switching, match the packaging to the job it must do. A food pouch, courier envelope and produce bag have different requirements for strength, barrier protection, sealing, food-contact suitability, shelf life and compatibility with packing equipment. A substitute that fails in use can create product loss or disrupt operations, so ask for specifications and evidence relevant to the particular product and packing line.

What does the Nor-X claim establish?
R2E-Pack says Nor-X is a Norwegian additive added at 2% during processing and that it makes polyethylene oxo-biodegradable. This is a company statement. The reviewed company pages do not provide a test standard, independent certification, degradation time or conditions, residue analysis, lifecycle comparison, or evidence of how the material performs in local recycling and waste-management systems. The company’s broader claim of a “fraction of the environmental impact” is likewise not substantiated with comparative data on those pages. See R2E-Pack’s website.
Those omissions mean a buyer cannot use the marketing description alone to establish what happens to a particular package after disposal or whether it performs better environmentally than another option. If the claim matters to procurement, require product-specific documentation before repeating it in customer-facing materials or treating it as proof of a disposal route.

Questions to put to a supplier
- What independent test reports apply to the exact product and formulation, and which standards and conditions do they cover?
- Does any certification cover the finished packaging, the additive, or only a narrower property? Request its scope and validity.
- What disposal instructions are supported by the evidence, and do local collection, sorting and treatment systems accept that specific format?
- Is there a product-specific lifecycle comparison against the relevant alternative, using comparable functions and assumptions?
How should a business compare packaging options?
There is no universal “green” winner established for R2E-Pack’s polyethylene, additive-treated and paper options. Compare the actual package and its use, not just a material label.

For a reusable system, assess the return, collection and cleaning arrangements as part of the packaging design rather than assuming reuse delivers a benefit on its own. A separate RE2PACK research initiative describes work on consumer needs, supply chains, food safety, return behavior, collection, cleaning and in-store presentation, initially focusing on condiments and soft fruit. It is distinct from R2E-Pack and is not evidence about R2E-Pack’s products. A separate Spanish RE2PACK project concerns a proposed recycled-content mono-material flexible film; it is also unrelated.

What EU packaging rules should buyers consider?
For businesses placing packaging on the EU market, the European Commission says Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste entered into force on 11 February 2025 and applies from 12 August 2026. Its scope covers packaging lifecycle requirements, including design, composition, reuse or recovery, waste prevention and waste management. The applicable obligations depend on the jurisdiction and the specific circumstances of a business or product; this EU framework should not be treated as a global rule. Consult the Commission’s packaging-waste overview and the rules relevant to each market.

What should a business buyer ask R2E-Pack?
A buyer seeking custom packaging can use the company’s stated customization and production capabilities as a starting point for a specification request. Ask for a written proposal tied to the product, dimensions, printing, packing process and destination market. If considering an additive-treated product, request the test reports, certification scope and disposal guidance described above, and verify that the evidence applies to the exact item being purchased. The company’s public pages do not provide a comparative lifecycle assessment or product-specific environmental certification that would support ranking its listed materials by impact.
