What Happened to Roll7 and Intercept Games? Take-Two’s 2024 Studio Closures

Reports in May 2024 said Take-Two Interactive was closing Roll7, the studio behind Rollerdrome, and Intercept Games, which developed Kerbal Space Program 2 (KSP2). CEO Strauss Zelnick disputed the word “shuttered,” while contemporaneous coverage also described office closures and layoffs. The distinction matters: Take-Two’s wording did not erase those reported changes, and the available sources do not establish either game’s current support plan.

What happened to Roll7 and Intercept Games?

In May 2024, Game Informer reported that Roll7 and Intercept Games were closing, alongside broad layoffs at Take-Two’s Private Division label. Roll7 was associated with Rollerdrome; Intercept Games developed KSP2. The reports concern changes to the studios and their staff, not a confirmed announcement that either game would immediately stop being available.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick contested the description of the studios as shut down. In May 2024 coverage, Nintendo Life quoted him saying, “We didn’t shutter those studios, to be clear.” That statement is Take-Two’s characterization of the situation; it does not by itself negate contemporaneous reporting about layoffs or office closures. Game Developer reported that Take-Two said Private Division would continue supporting KSP2, but the company did not provide more detail on Intercept Games’ status.

Which games were made by the affected studios?

Roll7 and Rollerdrome

Take-Two’s official announcement introduced Rollerdrome as a Roll7 game published by Private Division. It set the digital launch for August 16, 2022, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC through Steam. That release information establishes the studio-game relationship and original platforms; it does not establish a current update or support schedule.

Intercept Games and Kerbal Space Program 2

Steam identifies Intercept Games as KSP2’s developer and Private Division as its publisher. Steam lists the game as an Early Access release dated February 24, 2023.

What happens to Kerbal Space Program 2 now?

The 2024 statement that Private Division would continue supporting KSP2 is historical, not a verified current commitment. Steam’s current listing still calls the game Early Access, but it also says the last developer update was over two years ago and warns that the developer’s Early Access details and timeline may no longer be current. A storefront listing and its warning do not prove that development is impossible, nor do they amount to a new support promise. The cited sources do not verify a current KSP2 development schedule.

Is Rollerdrome still supported after Roll7 closed?

The sources establish that Roll7 made Rollerdrome and that the studio’s closure was reported in May 2024. They do not verify a current update plan or ongoing support status for the game. The original release announcement confirms where and when the game launched, not what support players can expect now.
