When was the Assistant Surgeon exam?
MRB’s examination notice, issued on 28 November 2024, scheduled the computer-based test for 5 January 2025. The notice listed two sessions:
- Tamil Eligibility Test: 9:00–10:00 a.m.
- Subject paper: 10:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

As of the MRB notice index checked on 8 October 2026, the board lists certificate-verification schedules for this 2024 recruitment, including a third phase. The May 2024 corrigendum confirms that the Tamil Nadu Medical Council registration cutoff was changed to on or before 15 July 2024. The detailed qualification, age, experience, fee and category-relaxation requirements should not be inferred from that amendment alone; consult the original notification and official amendments for the applicable rules.

MRB’s general FAQ says applications are submitted online and that employment-exchange registration alone does not automatically make someone eligible to sit an examination. Its policy page describes direct recruitment to Assistant Surgeon (General) as using open advertisement and a written examination.
