How Swimply works for Perth pool owners
Swimply is an hourly marketplace where guests book private pools and other venues. Owners control the listing: Swimply says hosts provide information and photos, set house rules and availability, and choose a price. Guests pay through the platform, which pays hosts after bookings. Swimply’s Australia host page describes the onboarding process.
A listing is not a guarantee of bookings. A pool can be available at a chosen hourly rate without attracting guests, and the advertised price does not show how often it is booked or what the owner earns after expenses.
How much do pools cost in Perth?
In a 2026 snapshot, Swimply’s Perth browse page advertised pool hire from A$30 per hour and displayed representative listings at A$30, A$45, A$50, A$60 and A$65 per hour. When comparing listings, look beyond the hourly price. Guest limits, pool type or heating, privacy, shade, amenities, location and guest ratings can all distinguish one listing from another. Ratings and listing details are supplied through the platform and may change.
What a host keeps—and what the listing price leaves out
Swimply says its Australian host commission is 15–25% of the booking price. A separate Swimply Help Centre article, updated 6 April 2025, says hosts keep 70–80% and explains that the fee can vary with factors such as location, regulation, booking details and other risk factors. Swimply says the host can see the exact payout percentage in the booking details. These are Swimply’s stated platform terms, not a fixed Perth rate or an independent calculation of total costs. For example, applying the stated 70–80% host share to a hypothetical A$50 booking would leave A$35–A$40 before the owner’s other expenses. That illustration is arithmetic, not a quote for a particular Perth booking; the applicable percentage is booking-specific.
Net return can also be affected by pool maintenance and water treatment, cleaning, utilities, time spent managing guests, insurance, tax and compliance. The available figures do not establish typical Perth earnings, booking frequency, pool utilisation or net profit. Treat hourly rates as a way to compare advertised listings, not as an income forecast or evidence of passive income.

Safety and legal checks before listing
Meet Western Australia’s pool-barrier requirements
Western Australia’s Building and Energy guidance, updated 2 October 2026, says private pools, spas and portable pools containing more than 30 cm of water require a safety barrier, subject to exceptions the department identifies for some remote areas. Technical requirements depend on the applicable regulations, building code and referenced Australian Standards. Understand Swimply’s host responsibilities and protections
Swimply’s Australian terms say a host must have authority to list the venue, describe it accurately, disclose relevant rules and charges, and keep it safe. The terms include maintaining water treatment, providing a barrier or reasonable security measures, and displaying a physical notice that no lifeguard is on duty. Swimply advertises a Host Guarantee and property damage protection, but its terms also state that “Swimply is not an insurer, nor is Swimply acting as an agent in any capacity for any Member.” Do not assume platform protections replace insurance or cover every loss; read the applicable terms and ask your insurer whether your existing policy responds to paid guest bookings.

Check the wider costs and permissions
The platform’s listing and fee information does not settle whether a particular owner needs local approvals, how income is taxed or whether a home insurance policy covers the activity. Those answers can depend on the property and the owner’s circumstances. Before listing, check with the ATO about tax, your local government about planning or business permissions, and your insurer about cover. Include ongoing upkeep and the time required to prepare the pool and manage bookings when deciding whether the potential return is worthwhile.
