No. Forbes Portugal reported that Mendes managed Ronaldo’s career for more than two decades, but that their trust-based professional relationship broke in 2021 when Ronaldo left Manchester United. In May 2023, Mendes said he no longer represented Ronaldo while distinguishing that professional status from their personal relationship. Forbes Portugal’s account and A Bola’s report of Mendes’s remarks support that distinction.
A Bola quoted Mendes saying, “A nossa relação pessoal continua a ser próxima, uma grande relação pessoal” (“Our personal relationship remains close, a great personal relationship”; translation). He also said, “Cristiano estará sempre no meu coração” (“Cristiano will always be in my heart”; translation). These were expressions of personal closeness, not a claim that he remained Ronaldo’s professional agent.
