What is confirmed about Taylor Swift’s engagement ring?
Swift’s publicist confirmed that the diamond is an old mine brilliant cut, and her representative confirmed that jewelry designer Kindred Lubeck created the ring. The Associated Press described it as a yellow-gold bezel setting. The publicist disclosed no further specifications, so the diamond’s carat weight, price and origin have not been confirmed. The Associated Press reported these details on August 26, 2025.
An old mine brilliant is an antique-style cut; the AP explains that such stones are often boxy, with rounded corners and curved edges. That distinctive look offers a plausible reason the ring drew attention from people interested in vintage jewelry, but the appearance alone cannot establish its market impact.
What evidence points to a “Taylor Swift effect”?
The Knot reported that industry sources saw increased interest in old mine cuts and vintage jewelry after the engagement announcement. It also forecast a possible $350 million increase in U.S. wedding-jewelry spending over the next two years. That figure is an estimate of potential future spending—not audited sales, a measured increase, or an estimate of spending caused by Swift’s ring. The Knot also reported that 85% of couples opt for diamond engagement rings, citing its 2025 Real Weddings Study. That statistic describes couples’ choices; it does not show that Swift changed them. The available evidence supports a burst of attention around a particular style and a spending forecast, not a demonstrated transformation of the entire diamond business.
How does that attention compare with broader U.S. market data?
Recent figures point to multiple changes in the engagement-ring market, but they measure different things. None of the cited market statistics attributes those changes to Swift’s ring.

The 51% BriteCo figure and De Beers’ 15% lab-grown figure are not contradictory: one is the share of newly appraised engagement rings in BriteCo’s data, while the other is a share of independent jewelers’ diamond-sales value. They describe different populations and metrics.
Are old mine cuts and other vintage-inspired shapes becoming more popular?
The Knot’s reported increase in interest is evidence of attention to old mine cuts and vintage jewelry, but it does not quantify how many more buyers chose those styles. Other shape data provide context rather than proof of a Swift effect: National Jeweler reported that The Knot’s study found 25% of couples selected oval diamonds and 26% selected round diamonds. For a buyer, a celebrity-driven surge in attention is not the same as a lasting change in availability, resale value or price. The reported trend may help explain why shoppers are asking about antique-style cuts, but the cited reports do not establish that the ring changed those financial factors.
