The changes do not apply to every TELUS customer, and the public notice does not list all affected plans. Check your account or bill to confirm whether your rate changed.
Which TELUS plans were included in the announced increases?
| Service | Plans described in the notice | Increase | First affected billing cycles |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wireless | Select legacy month-to-month rate plans | $7 per month | Beginning in February 2026 |
| Home Internet and Optik TV | Some select month-to-month plans | $5 per month | Beginning in March 2026 |
The timing and amounts come from TELUS statements quoted in MobileSyrup’s January 12, 2026 report. They describe the announced changes, not a claim that every customer in those service categories was affected.
How can you tell if your TELUS bill went up because of this?
The report does not identify all affected plan names or account eligibility, so being on a month-to-month plan alone does not confirm that the increase applies to you. Review the plan-specific message on your bill or in your TELUS account. If it is unclear, ask TELUS to identify the affected plan, the new recurring monthly rate, and whether your existing discounts continue.
What options did TELUS describe for affected customers?
Wireless customers
For the wireless increase, TELUS said customers could move to an in-market monthly rate plan. That statement does not establish that a particular in-market plan will cost less overall or preserve the same features and discounts. Compare the new recurring price with your current plan’s revised price, and check data, calling, term commitments and any promotion expiry before changing.

Internet and Optik TV customers
For the select home-service plans, TELUS said customers could sign a new two-year term to avoid the announced increase. The statement does not show whether that term would be cheaper over its full length for an individual account. Confirm the recurring price, term conditions, equipment or package details, and what happens when any offer ends before agreeing.
TELUS’s current Internet plans page describes a five-year price lock for eligible plans, subject to eligibility restrictions and offer terms. That current offer information does not show that an eligible plan would reduce an existing customer’s bill, and it should not be treated as proof that the same offer terms were available to customers in the January notice.

Is the July 2026 Optik TV increase the same change?
No. TELUS separately posted an Optik TV update dated June 1, 2026, saying regular monthly rates for its Select, Optimum, Platinum, Ultimate and Favourites packages would increase by $5 starting July 1, 2026. See the Optik TV service programming and rate updates page for that notice. It is distinct from the earlier March increase for some select month-to-month Internet and Optik TV plans; the July package update does not establish that every TV customer was affected by the earlier notice.

Compare the complete recurring cost and the service you actually use rather than relying on the announced increase alone. For a wireless plan, check the data allowance and calling inclusions. For home services, compare Internet speed and included equipment, or the TV package and channels you need. Across either service, include discounts, price-lock eligibility, promotion expiry, term length and cancellation obligations. The cited notices do not provide a like-for-like comparison with other providers, so they cannot establish that switching would be cheaper.
