Forbes estimated Stephen Ross’s net worth at $21.5 billion as of September 9, 2026, its latest dated figure in the sources cited here. That is an estimate, not an audited personal balance sheet. Forbes identifies real estate—particularly Ross’s work through Related Companies—as the primary source of his wealth.

Stephen Ross’s net worth, according to Forbes

Forbes’s real-time profile put Ross’s net worth at $21.5 billion as of September 9, 2026. The prior year, Forbes listed him at $17 billion as of September 9, 2025 in its annual Forbes 400 ranking. These are estimates taken at different dates and in different contexts, not a guaranteed year-over-year accounting of cash gained or lost. Forbes’s Stephen Ross profile is the source for both figures.

No audited, itemized personal balance sheet for Ross is provided by the cited sources. Private real estate and sports holdings are difficult to value precisely from public information, so the most defensible answer is an attributed, dated estimate rather than a supposedly exact total.

How Stephen Ross made his money

Related Companies and real estate

Forbes identifies real estate as Ross’s source of wealth and says he founded Related Companies in 1972. The profile says Related has developed or acquired properties worth more than $60 billion. That figure describes the value of properties developed or acquired by the company; it is not Ross’s personal net worth.

#1 Best Overall

Related Companies’ official biography identifies Ross as its founder and says the company has more than $70 billion in real estate assets owned or under development. This is a company-reported figure, not an estimate of the value Ross personally owns. Related Companies’ Stephen M. Ross profile provides the company’s description and his roles.

Sports and wellness interests

Forbes names Ross’s interests in the Miami Dolphins, the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, Equinox, and SoulCycle. Related’s biography describes him as owner of the Dolphins and an investor in Equinox businesses and SoulCycle. These interests form part of his business portfolio, but the cited sources do not provide a separate valuation of each stake.

Related Ross and South Florida development

Ross is chairman and CEO of Related Ross, which describes its focus as South Florida development. Its profile says the company plans to invest more than $10 billion across West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County. That is a company development plan—not cash Ross has personally invested or wealth he personally holds. Related Ross’s Stephen M. Ross profile gives the company’s account of its plans and assets.

Why published net-worth estimates can differ

Billionaire rankings are estimates, and their totals can vary with asset valuations, the date of the estimate, and the publisher’s methodology. Forbes’s $21.5 billion figure is labeled real-time and dated September 9, 2026; its $17 billion figure is an annual Forbes 400 value dated September 9, 2025. Bloomberg also maintains a Stephen Ross entry in its Billionaires Index, but the cited search result did not establish an equally clear as-of date. Its figure should not be compared directly with Forbes’s without confirming the dates and methodologies. Bloomberg Billionaires Index: Stephen Ross.

Personal wealth is not the same as company assets

Related’s reported real estate assets, Related’s property-development figures, and Related Ross’s planned South Florida investment describe companies or projects. They should not be added to Ross’s estimated net worth or treated as money he can personally spend. Forbes’s dated estimate is the relevant figure when the question is Ross’s net worth.
