The transaction confirms that the ETH was sent and that a message was recorded; it does not verify the accusation or independently establish who controlled the address.
Who burned $1.3 million in Ethereum?
Arkham reported that the address it identified as 0x1a1 sent 500 ETH to a burn address on February 17, 2025. Arkham valued the transfer at about $1.3 million in its report body and $1.34 million in its headline; these were contemporaneous estimates, not a current valuation. Arkham’s report attributed the message to “Hu Lezhi.” Cybernews said Arkham analysts believed the address appeared to be controlled by Hu Lezhi, who described themself as a programmer and entrepreneur. The cited reporting does not independently establish the sender’s legal identity.
The message accused Kuande Investment executives Feng Xin and Xu Yuzhi of using brain-computer devices to persecute employees and former employees. Cybernews published that wording as a translation of the on-chain message. It is an allegation attributed to the sender, not a verified finding about the executives or the company. The available reporting includes no independently verified response from either executive, a regulator, or a court.
Did someone really burn 500 ETH?
Yes. Arkham reported the 500 ETH transfer to a burn address. “Burning” cryptocurrency means sending it to an address described as having no private key, leaving no known way to authorize a transfer back out. Arkham says the ETH cannot be recovered. The dollar figure is only the estimated value when the transaction was reported; it does not mean that amount of cash was destroyed or establish the ETH’s value today.

The burn was part of a wider set of reported transactions. Cybernews said that, according to Arkham, the address sent $4.95 million in total that week to a burn address, WikiLeaks, and the Ethereum Foundation. Cybernews also reported $825,000 sent to Coinbase and $273,000 to a new address. These were historical estimates reported in 2025, not current balances or valuations.
A separate record provides another example of the activity: Etherscan lists a successful transfer of 300 ETH to Endaoment’s administrative wallet at 02:59:59 UTC on February 17, 2025, from an address it labels “Hu Lezhi.” The record includes Chinese input text. Etherscan’s transaction page establishes transaction metadata and the presence of text, but does not authenticate the sender or validate the text’s claims.

What are “brain-computer weapons”?
The phrase appears in the sender’s accusation. The cited transaction and reporting do not establish that a weapon of this kind exists or that one was used as described. A recorded message is not evidence that its allegations are true.
Cybernews linked to a 2022 The Conversation article discussing ethics and potential military uses of brain-computer interfaces. General discussion of neurotechnology and possible applications does not corroborate the specific claims in the Ethereum messages. No independently verified statement from a neuroscience authority about these particular allegations is included in the cited reporting.

What can the blockchain prove?
An Ethereum transaction record can show details such as the sending and receiving addresses, the amount transferred, whether the transaction succeeded, and any data attached to it. In this case, the cited records support the existence of the transfers and the inclusion of message text.
Those records do not, by themselves, prove who controlled an address, whether a named person authored a message, or whether a statement in transaction data is true. The attribution to Hu Lezhi is Arkham’s assessment as reported by Cybernews, not an independently established legal identity. The allegations about Kuande Investment executives and any supposed military deployment remain unverified in the cited sources.
