HYBE IM announced an $80 million strategic investment on 6 August 2024, led by Makers Fund, with HYBE and IMM Investment participating. The company said it would use the financing to strengthen its game publishing and development businesses. A separate KRW 30 billion financing followed in 2025; the available records do not establish the later financial returns or how fully HYBE IM carried out its plans.
Who invested in HYBE IM?
Makers Fund led the August 2024 round. HYBE and IMM Investment also participated. HYBE’s regulatory filing identifies the subscribers as HYBE, Makers Fund VCC Fund III, Makers Fund VCC Venture III, and IMM Investment. The financing was structured as an issuance of 76,924 new convertible preferred shares.
How much did HYBE IM raise?
HYBE IM announced the transaction as an $80 million strategic investment. Yonhap reported an approximate conversion of KRW 109.8 billion, while HYBE’s later filing records the share issuance at approximately KRW 108 billion. Those are differently stated figures, not identical exact amounts: the dollar headline and contemporaneous conversion are rounded, and the filing reports the issuance amount in won. The filing says the purpose was to raise operating capital to strengthen HYBE IM’s game business.
What did HYBE IM say it would do with the money?
The company said the investment would strengthen its position in the global games market and expand both publishing and development. In its 1 August 2024 shareholder letter, HYBE described HYBE IM as a subsidiary established in 2022 that had developed and launched games based on artists’ intellectual property (IP), and had begun publishing games from external studios during the second quarter of 2024.

HYBE’s stated near-term priority at the time was to establish the publishing business and expand its operations. The company also pointed to future launches of internally developed, IP-based games. These were plans described in 2024; the available sources do not show that every planned title launched or establish the investment’s results.
What games are associated with HYBE IM?
HYBE IM’s artist-IP game activity includes Rhythm Hive and BTS Island: In the SEOM. The Korea Creative Content Agency reported on 12 December 2024 that Rhythm Hive had 12.5 million users worldwide. That is a dated figure, not a current user count. HYBE’s 2024 shareholder letter also described the company’s move into publishing games made by external studios, alongside its work on artist-IP titles.

How does the 2025 financing relate to the $80 million round?
HYBE IM announced a separate KRW 30 billion financing in 2025 involving IMM Investment, Shinhan Venture Investment, and Daesung Private Equity. HYBE’s filing describes a March 2025 preferred-share issuance and names those investors as subscribers. The company said the later financing would support publishing capability and long-term growth, including marketing, live-service operations, and localization. It is distinct from the $80 million round announced in August 2024; the available records do not establish HYBE IM’s total funding or subsequent developments beyond those 2025 disclosures.
