No. Southwest’s “up to 50% off” birthday-month sale was a limited promotion that ran June 3–5, 2025. As of October 8, 2026, Southwest’s flight-deals page listed a different offer: up to 40% off base fares on selected flights, with booking due by October 8, 2026. Check Southwest’s flight-deals page for current availability before booking; sale terms and inventory can change.
What was Southwest’s 50%-off birthday sale?
Southwest’s 2025 birthday-month Week of WOW promotion advertised up to 50% off base fares when customers used code WOWZERS. The booking window was June 3–5, 2025, and the offer applied to selected travel dates, not every flight. The promotion is historical, not a currently bookable sale. Southwest Media’s announcement describes the birthday-month offer.

“Up to 50%” was the maximum advertised discount. It did not mean every route or itinerary was half price, and the percentage alone does not establish the price a traveler would have paid for a particular trip.
What Southwest deal was listed on October 8, 2026?
On October 8, 2026, Southwest’s official flight-deals page listed up to 40% off base fares for selected flights departing October 26, 2026 through March 3, 2027. The booking deadline shown was October 8, 2026, and the discount was automatically applied; no promo code was stated as necessary for that offer. The advertised discount was calculated before government taxes and fees. Southwest’s offer page lists the terms.

That dated offer snapshot does not establish that the promotion remains available after its booking deadline. For any later booking, use the live page to verify the offer currently displayed, eligible travel dates, and remaining fares.
How to check whether a flight qualifies
- Open Southwest’s flight-deals page. Confirm the booking deadline, travel window, discount, and whether the offer calls for a code.
- Search your route and dates. Compare the outbound and return dates you can actually travel; a sale may cover only certain flights or days.
- Check flexible dates in the Low Fare Calendar. Southwest recommends it for finding sale fares, which may not appear on every route, flight, or date.
- Compare the final itinerary price. Look at the fare for the exact flights, applicable fare conditions, and the total including government taxes and fees—not just the headline percentage.
- Review eligibility before changing an existing reservation. Confirm whether the promotion applies to your new itinerary and whether any code or other conditions are required before cancelling or changing a booking.
Why the advertised discount may not match your trip
- It is a maximum, not a universal reduction. “Up to” describes the largest advertised discount, not a guaranteed reduction for every fare.
- Eligible inventory is limited. Southwest says sale fares may be limited, can sell out, and may not be offered on all routes, flights, or dates. Restrictions, exclusions, and blackout dates can also apply.
- Taxes and fees affect the total. The October 8, 2026 offer calculated its discount before government taxes and fees, so the percentage does not represent a discount on the complete checkout total.
- Promotions can have different rules. Some Southwest sales require a promo code; follow the terms for the specific offer rather than assuming the 2025 code applies to a later sale. See Southwest’s flight sale guidance.

Southwest’s June 2026 Week of WOW announcement also described deals on hotels, rental cars, cruises, and vacation packages. It said that promotion included more than 20 million seats on sale; that figure applied to the June 2026 announcement, not to the 2025 birthday sale or later inventory.
