What are the Shrek movies ranked by box office?
The table ranks the four theatrical films in the main Shrek series by the worldwide gross reported in The Numbers’ franchise table. The figures are nominal database totals, not adjusted for inflation.

Which Shrek movie made the most money?
Shrek 2 leads the four-film series on The Numbers’ worldwide-gross measure. It earned $933,848,612 in the table, ahead of Shrek the Third by $126,517,676. NBCUniversal separately describes Shrek 2 as the highest-grossing film in the series domestically, reporting $441.5 million in domestic gross; that is a U.S. domestic figure, not a worldwide total.

What counts as a Shrek movie in this ranking?
This list covers the four main theatrical films: Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, and Shrek Forever After. It does not include the two Puss in Boots spin-offs. NBCUniversal describes those six films together as the wider Shrek franchise and says the franchise has grossed nearly $4 billion worldwide; that broader franchise figure is not the total for the four films listed above.
Why might another source show different grosses?
Box-office totals can differ between databases because sources may use different accounting or release scopes. Box Office Mojo’s Shrek franchise page uses a “Lifetime Gross” column and lists totals for the original Shrek and Shrek 2 that differ from The Numbers’ worldwide figures. NBCUniversal’s anniversary article also gives domestic figures, which should not be compared directly with worldwide grosses.

For a consistent comparison, the table above uses one database and one geography measure throughout: The Numbers’ worldwide gross. Neither its cited table nor this ranking adjusts the totals for inflation, so it compares reported nominal grosses rather than the films’ relative purchasing power across release years.

DreamWorks’ official Shrek franchise site lists Shrek 5 for a theatrical release on June 30, 2027. That is a future scheduled date and may change.
