No. Shein is no longer looking to IPO: its shares began trading on the Hong Kong stock market on September 1, 2026. The company raised about $1.7 billion at an offer price of HK$48.56 a share, after earlier efforts to list in New York and London stalled.
Shein’s IPO: the key facts
Shein completed its initial public offering in Hong Kong. The Associated Press reported that the company raised about $1.7 billion, with shares priced at HK$48.56. On the first day of trading, the shares fell as much as 10% in early trading and closed at HK$48.50, slightly below the IPO price. How Shein’s IPO plans changed
Shein had explored a U.S. listing and later pursued a London listing before turning to Hong Kong. Proposed IPO terms versus the final offer
Before trading began, Shein offered 280 million shares at a proposed price range of HK$47.60 to HK$49.50. Reuters said the upper end implied a valuation close to $27 billion. These were proposed terms, not the final price: the company ultimately priced its shares at HK$48.56 and raised about $1.7 billion, according to the AP’s September 1 report.

Reuters reported that the offering was expected to raise up to HK$13.86 billion, equivalent to about $1.77 billion, based on its proposed terms. That estimate should not be confused with the roughly $1.7 billion reported as raised after the final offering.
What the reported financial results said
Reuters reported that Shein’s prospectus showed a $99 million loss in the first quarter of 2026, compared with $395 million in net income in the same quarter of 2025. Reuters also reported that U.S. revenue fell 14.3% in the first quarter of 2026, with the prospectus discussion citing higher duties and taxes. These are company figures reported from its prospectus, not independent forecasts.

The answer to whether Shein is still seeking an IPO is now straightforward: it listed in Hong Kong. The offering’s completion does not, by itself, indicate how the shares will perform over time. The cited AP report covers only the first trading session, so it cannot establish a subsequent price trend or support an investment recommendation.

At the listing ceremony, Shein CFO Leigh Gui called the Hong Kong listing “a new starting point,” according to the AP. That was the company executive’s characterization of the event, not an independent assessment of its prospects. Associated Press, September 1, 2026
