To qualify, a referred merchant must use your affiliate link, choose an eligible Basic, Grow, or Advanced plan, and pay full price after the trial period. Shopify’s public schedule excludes Plus, Enterprise, and Retail referrals.
Below is how eligibility, the payout tiers, conversion requirements, and payments work according to Shopify’s current public program pages, checked October 8, 2026. Your current agreement in Impact and the referred merchant’s country code determine the terms that apply to you.
How much can you earn as a Shopify affiliate?
Shopify’s affiliate program page advertises “up to $150 USD per qualified referral.” The Help Center’s earnings schedule divides referrals into location-based tiers: a $150 tier for specified merchant markets and a $25 tier for India, Africa, Latin America, much of Asia, and other listed markets.
The broad regional descriptions are not a substitute for the schedule’s full country-code lists. Check the exact merchant location and your Impact agreement before estimating a commission. A referral’s plan and whether it reaches the required full-price payment also affect eligibility.
#1 Best Overall
| Public schedule tier | Merchant locations, broadly described | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| $150 USD | United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Japan, the United Kingdom, many European markets, and listed Middle Eastern markets | Applies only to the markets and country codes specified by Shopify and the affiliate’s Impact agreement. |
| $25 USD | India, Africa, Latin America, much of Asia, and other listed markets | Not every country in a broad region necessarily shares this rate; confirm the exact country code in the current schedule and agreement. |
These are the current public-page rates checked on October 8, 2026, not a forecast of typical affiliate income. Shopify’s reviewed pages do not establish average earnings, conversion rates, or approval rates. The “up to” figure and any earnings calculator example should not be treated as evidence of what a typical affiliate will earn.
Which referrals qualify for commission?
A signup or trial by itself is not enough. Shopify says the referred merchant must arrive through your affiliate link, select an eligible store plan, and pay full price after the trial period. Shopify’s earnings schedule identifies Basic, Grow, and Advanced as eligible plan families, subject to merchant location and the applicable contract terms.
Rank #2
| Plan or store type | Listed in the public affiliate earnings schedule? |
|---|---|
| Basic | Eligible, subject to location, full-price payment, and contract terms. |
| Grow | Eligible, subject to location, full-price payment, and contract terms. |
| Advanced | Eligible, subject to location, full-price payment, and contract terms. |
| Plus | Not eligible under this affiliate commission schedule. |
| Enterprise | Not eligible under this affiliate commission schedule. |
| Retail | Not eligible under this affiliate commission schedule. |
Shopify also reserves the right to reverse commissions associated with fraudulent or refunded stores. The Help Center directs affiliates to their Impact agreement for the complete country codes and applicable terms, so use that agreement—not the headline maximum—to assess an individual referral.
Who can join the Shopify Affiliate Program?
Shopify says the program is aimed at people with an audience of merchants. Its stated ideal applicants own and manage an active website, have an established audience, publish original commerce or entrepreneurship content, and have relevant experience with Shopify, commerce, entrepreneurship, or another commerce platform. Examples of original content include courses, blog posts, videos, and guides.

Those are indicators Shopify says it looks for, not a promise of acceptance. Shopify states that not every application is approved, and applicants must read and accept the Affiliate Marketing Program Terms. Review Shopify Affiliate Program requirements before applying.
How to apply and get a referral link
- Check your fit. Make sure you can point to an active website, a relevant established audience, original content, and applicable experience.
- Read the program terms. Shopify lists reading the Affiliate Marketing Program Terms as an application requirement.
- Apply through Shopify’s affiliate program page. Approval is selective; meeting the profile Shopify describes does not guarantee acceptance.
- After acceptance, use Impact. Shopify directs accepted affiliates to Impact to create referral links. Do not assume a tracked program link is available before acceptance.
- Review your Impact agreement. Confirm the applicable country codes, commission terms, and payment details before making payout estimates or describing the offer to your audience.
How tracking, commissions, and withdrawals work
Shopify says Impact handles affiliate links and payment operations. Its public program material describes commissions being credited to the affiliate balance once monthly for referrals from the preceding month. That monthly credit schedule is separate from the withdrawal timing setting an affiliate chooses in Impact.
The Shopify Help Center’s program overview says affiliates need a balance of at least $10 USD, or an approximate local-currency equivalent, before withdrawal. The public material describes bank and PayPal withdrawals where available; Shopify’s landing page also describes direct deposit or bank transfer in more than 80 currencies. Which options you can use depends on country availability and your Impact account.
Shopify says earnings may be subject to taxes depending on the affiliate’s location and applicable local rules. The reviewed public pages do not establish a net payout after tax; that depends on your circumstances and jurisdiction.

What to check before counting on the $150 maximum
- Merchant location: verify the exact country code against the current earnings schedule and your Impact agreement.
- Plan: confirm the merchant selects Basic, Grow, or Advanced; Plus, Enterprise, and Retail are excluded from this schedule.
- Payment stage: a trial or signup alone does not qualify; the merchant must make the required full-price payment after the trial period.
- Approval and tracking: apply first, then create links through Impact after acceptance.
- Withdrawal: account for the minimum balance and country-specific payment-method availability.
Rates, eligible locations, and terms can change. Recheck Shopify’s current earnings schedule and your Impact agreement before promoting a payout figure.
