Advisers for Bord and Römer said their money came from investments in technology and analytics, but gave no further details. The trio’s consortium became Sheffield Wednesday’s preferred bidder in December 2025, then withdrew without buying the club. Sheffield Wednesday was later sold to a different group in May 2026.
What is known about the former bidders’ money?
The strongest public explanation applies to Bord and Römer together: their advisers told The Guardian on 30 January 2026 that the pair had made money through investments in technology and analytics. The advisers declined to provide more detail. This is an attributed account, not a detailed or independently verified disclosure of their assets, investment returns, or the consortium’s full funding.
The Guardian also reported that the EFL was assessing the source of the bidders’ funds. That report describes scrutiny, not a finding of wrongdoing. No source cited here establishes a complete breakdown of who would have funded what share of the proposed purchase.
Felix Römer: online businesses and Gamdom
BBC Sport’s 6 January 2026 profile described Römer as a German-born entrepreneur with a background in online consumer businesses, including fintech, gambling and software. It also reported that he was a shareholder in Short Circuit Science, a sports analytics business.

The Guardian identified Römer as the owner of Gamdom, a crypto-gambling casino and sports-betting site registered in the Comoros Islands. That connection helps explain the kinds of businesses associated with him, but the reporting gives no ownership percentage, valuation, income figure or verified estimate of his personal net worth.
James Bord: sports analytics and reported poker winnings
BBC Sport identified Bord as the founder of Short Circuit Science. The Guardian reported that there was no public record of his wealth beyond career poker winnings reported at about £3 million, and said people in the betting industry described him as a successful gambler.

The roughly £3 million figure is reported career winnings, not a net-worth estimate. It does not show how much Bord retained after costs, taxes or losses, and it should not be treated as proof of his total wealth. The advisers’ technology-and-analytics explanation is the only reported account of the pair’s investments that provides a broad source-of-money description.
Alsharif Faisal Bin Jamil: public roles, but no wealth breakdown
BBC Sport described Bin Jamil as chief executive of the consortium and, citing his LinkedIn account, as group CEO of Short Circuit Science and a board member at Dunfermline and Córdoba. The report also said he was said to be a member of Jordan’s royal family.

Those roles do not establish his personal source of wealth, net worth or financial contribution to the bid. The available reporting does not quantify any of them, so his family description or executive title should not be used to infer his finances.

In a statement quoted by BBC Sport, the consortium said it had spent over £4 million helping run the club over the previous two months and could no longer continue. These are reported transaction and club-support figures; they do not show the personal wealth of any bidder or identify each person’s contribution.
Sheffield Wednesday was not bought by the Bord-Römer-Bin Jamil group. The joint administrators announced on 5 May 2026 that the club had been sold to Arise Capital Partners LLC, led by David Storch alongside Michael Storch and Tom Costin. The EFL agreed not to impose a 15-point deduction when the club exited administration, according to the administrators’ completion announcement.
