If Scotiabank is not loading for you, first check whether the problem affects only the app, or also the bank’s website and a particular feature such as sign-in or transfers. If the app alone is failing, try signing in at Scotiabank Online instead.
Is Scotiabank down right now?
The available indicators checked on October 8, 2026 do not establish a bank-wide outage. Downdetector’s Saint John report page showed no current problems, while Inverite’s status page listed Scotiabank as operational. Downdetector is location-specific, and both sites are third-party sources; neither is an official Scotiabank incident declaration or proof that all customers and features are unaffected. A customer comment displayed on Downdetector reported trouble on October 6, but a single comment does not establish the scale or cause of a problem.
Scotiabank’s Help Centre displayed a temporary message saying it could not load a page during a check. That message concerns the Help Centre page and does not by itself show that online banking, the app, or the whole bank is down. (Scotiabank Help Centre.)

Work out what is failing
Compare the affected route and feature before deciding whether the issue is likely limited to your device or more widely reported. These checks can help narrow the problem; they do not diagnose an outage.
- App fails, website works: the problem may be specific to the app or device. Continue through the website if it lets you access the service you need.
- App and website both fail: note whether you can reach the sign-in page but cannot log in, or whether the pages themselves will not load. Check the third-party status indicators for reports, keeping in mind their location and coverage limitations.
- Only one feature fails: if sign-in works but a particular task does not, record which feature is affected. A problem with one function does not establish that all digital banking is unavailable.
- You are setting up digital banking for the first time: check whether activation is required before treating the issue as an outage.
If the Scotiabank app is not loading
Try the browser route
Scotiabank says customers can try signing in at scotiabank.com if they cannot update a device to meet the app’s requirements. The website is an alternative route for an app or compatibility problem, not a guaranteed workaround if the bank’s service itself is affected. (Scotiabank app operating-system requirements.)

Check your operating system
Scotiabank’s guidance, last updated March 17, 2026, lists iOS 16 or later for Apple devices and Android 11 or later for Android devices. If your device runs an older version, the bank’s stated alternative is to try its website. (Scotiabank app operating-system requirements.)
If you have never activated digital banking
Scotiabank’s first-time sign-in guide says activation is needed if you have not yet activated online and mobile banking. Its setup guidance lists a ScotiaCard, credit card, or eligible account number as options for activation. This applies to first-time setup; it is not a general fix for an established account that suddenly cannot sign in. Follow the bank’s instructions at its first-time login guide.

Contact Scotiabank if access remains blocked
For help with mobile banking, Scotiabank lists its Mobile Banking Support Line at 1-877-908-8866. The bank also lists general inquiries at 1-800-472-6842; its contact page says general inquiries are available 24/7 and publishes separate, limited live-chat hours. Check the Scotiabank contact page for the current details.
When contacting support, describe what you tried and whether the app, website, or a particular feature failed. Do not post or send passwords, full card details, account numbers, or verification codes in public comments or to anyone who contacts you unexpectedly.
