In a June 2024 interview, Sarah, an Australian creator known online as cowgirl6999, said she had expected OnlyFans work to bring easy money but instead found herself broke and facing serious personal and financial difficulties. Her account is one person’s experience—not an independently verified financial record or a measure of what creators typically earn.
What Sarah said happened
PerthNow’s June 20, 2024 report identified Sarah as a 25-year-old creator using the handle cowgirl6999. She described severe hardship, saying, “I’m completely broke. I lost my house, and yeah, I’m just kind of failing at life at the moment.” She also said the work had cost her friendships and strained family relationships. These are Sarah’s statements as reported by PerthNow; the article does not independently verify her finances or personal circumstances.

Why she started creating content
Sarah told PerthNow she initially entered what she called “spicy work” because she wanted to make a lot of money and thought it would be easy. She hoped to do it for a short time and use the proceeds to start a business. In a separate report reproduced by Yahoo, News.com.au also described that short-term plan and her original expectations. The plan is context for Sarah’s experience, not evidence that creator work generally produces a particular outcome.

Her view of the work and its trade-offs
Sarah said she did not blame the industry for her decisions: “This is my fault. I made the decision to do this. It is not the industry’s fault.” At the same time, she described a crowded market and the effort required to keep a fan base. She said public perceptions that pornography is “easy money” overlook both oversaturation and the work involved in maintaining an audience. These are her observations, not independently measured findings about the creator market.
Her account was not solely negative. She said creating content gave her control over her social media presence and photography, helped her become more confident in her artistic ability, and inspired an interest in modelling and photography. Those creative benefits sat alongside the financial and relationship difficulties she described.

What this story can—and cannot—tell you about OnlyFans earnings
Sarah’s experience is a warning against treating the prospect of quick income as a dependable financial plan. It does not establish how much she earned, what expenses she faced, or what creators typically make. The available reporting provides no primary, independently verifiable dataset on typical OnlyFans earnings. A platform-wide earnings figure repeated without an identifiable original source and methodology would not resolve that gap.
