Estimates of Gomez’s wealth and Rare Beauty’s value, however, vary by source and date—and a company valuation is not the same as cash in its founder’s hands.
What the four-year claim gets right—and what it doesn’t
Rare Beauty launched in September 2020. In a 2024 profile, TIME described it as not yet four years old and reported $400 million in sales for the 12 months ending in May 2024. That indicates a fast-growing business, but it does not show how much Gomez’s personal net worth increased during the same period.
TIME also reported that Rare Beauty’s sales grew 100% from 2021 to 2022, then 200% the following year. Those are company sales-growth figures, not growth rates for Gomez’s net worth. Revenue is money a business brings in before costs and other obligations; it is not the same as profit or an owner’s personal income.
How much is Selena Gomez worth?
There is no single verified public figure. In September 2024, Bloomberg estimated Gomez’s net worth at $1.3 billion, with about 81% attributed to Rare Beauty, according to TIME’s summary of Bloomberg’s estimate. Forbes later estimated her net worth at about $700 million in 2025. The gap is a reminder that net-worth figures for people with private-company stakes are estimates, not audited personal balance sheets.

Forbes’ 2025 estimate drew in part on the California filing for the revenue figure and analyst views. The reported revenue helps convey the company’s scale, but it cannot be added to Gomez’s net worth or treated as her earnings.
How much is Rare Beauty worth?
Published estimates of the private company’s value also differ. TIME cited a $2 billion valuation in 2024; Forbes estimated about $1.3 billion in 2025; Fortune reported a $2.7 billion estimate as of mid-2025. These are estimates, not confirmed sale prices or publicly disclosed valuations from a transaction.

A valuation is an estimate of what a business may be worth; it does not mean the company sold for that amount, or that Gomez could immediately convert her ownership stake into cash at that value. The available reporting does not establish a current fair-market value.
What helped Rare Beauty grow?
A strong-selling product
TIME reported that Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Liquid Blush generated $70 million in sales in 2023. That is sales for one product, not profit and not personal income paid to Gomez. It offers a concrete example of the brand’s commercial reach without proving how much of the company’s value belongs to her.

A stated mission alongside the business
Gomez has described a purpose beyond selling cosmetics: “I didn’t want to really enter the cosmetics world without a mission,” she said at the 2024 TIME100 Summit, as reported by TIME. The company presented the Rare Impact Fund as part of that mental-health mission, pledging 1% of product sales and setting a $100 million fundraising goal, according to TIME’s profile and event coverage.
The brand’s chief executive, Scott Friedman, told TIME that the company would decide how best to become one of the largest prestige beauty brands and that “it’s not a rush.” That statement describes the company’s stated approach, not a guarantee of future growth.

Why the numbers shouldn’t be treated as a personal payday
- Revenue is sales generated by the company; it is not automatically profit.
- Company valuation is an estimate of the business’s worth, not cash distributed to its founder.
- Personal net worth estimates assets minus liabilities and depends on assumptions about private holdings and other finances.
- Ownership share and liquidity matter: the cited reporting does not provide an audited personal balance sheet or establish the precise value Gomez could realize from her stake.
So the defensible conclusion is narrower than the headline claim: Rare Beauty was a major contributor to Gomez’s wealth in some published estimates, and the company grew rapidly in its first years. Public figures do not establish an exact four-year increase in her net worth, nor do they settle her current fortune or the brand’s current value.
