SSC CGL 2024 is closed to applications. The Staff Selection Commission’s deadline was 24 July 2024 at 23:00, so the old “apply now” headline no longer applies. For a live opportunity, check the official SSC portal for current-cycle notices.
Can I still apply for SSC CGL 2024?
No. The 2024 application window has ended. SSC opened applications on 24 June 2024 and set the final application deadline for 24 July 2024 at 23:00. The fee-payment deadline was 25 July 2024 at 23:00. These dates are specific to the 2024 cycle, not current application dates. See the SSC portal for notices about active cycles.
How many vacancies were reported?
Hindustan Times reported approximately 17,727 vacancies in its 2024 coverage of the notification. Treat that as a contemporary reported estimate, not as a current vacancy count; the figure was not included in the extracted official notice text reviewed here. The notice announced recruitment to Group B and Group C posts in central government ministries, departments and organizations, as well as constitutional bodies, statutory bodies and tribunals.
What was the SSC CGL 2024 exam schedule?
The notice listed Tier-I computer-based examinations tentatively for September–October 2024 and Tier-II for December 2024. A 2 July 2024 release from the Press Information Bureau also gave September–October as the planned Tier-I period and directed candidates to the SSC notice for the examination scheme and syllabus. Those were historical, tentative dates, not a current schedule.

What was the eligibility for SSC CGL 2024?
Education
Most posts required a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification. Junior Statistical Officer and Statistical Investigator Grade-II roles had additional mathematics or statistics requirements. The essential-qualification cutoff in the notice was 1 August 2024.
Age and post-specific requirements
Age limits varied by post, so there was no single age range that applied to every applicant. The notice included post-specific age limits and age-relaxation provisions. It also cautioned that eligibility was provisional: candidates needed to check the education, age, category, physical and medical requirements for the posts they selected. Supporting certificates were subject to later verification, and some roles had additional standards.
How did the application work, and what was the fee?
Applications were submitted online through SSC’s new website, ssc.gov.in. Applicants who did not already have a one-time registration on that portal had to create one; an earlier registration on ssc.nic.in did not work on the new site.
- Application fee: ₹100.
- Fee exemptions: Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen were exempt under the notice.
- Application deadline: 24 July 2024 at 23:00.
- Fee-payment deadline: 25 July 2024 at 23:00.
How should candidates assess the posts?
Eligibility for one post did not automatically mean it was the right preference. The notice’s post details matter when comparing department and role, pay level, age band, any specialized education requirement, and physical or medical standards. It also cautioned that post preferences affect final consideration, so candidates needed to order preferences carefully and confirm they met each selected post’s requirements.
