Samsung’s official listing information does not identify a NYSE listing. This answer is about Samsung Electronics, not every company in the broader Samsung Group.
Where Samsung Electronics shares are listed
Samsung Electronics describes its Korean securities as original shares and its London securities as GDRs. Its investor-relations page says: “Samsung Electronics’ original shares are listed on the Korea Exchange (KRX).” It also says: “Our GDRs are listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).” Samsung Electronics stock listing information does not name the NYSE.

The London-listed securities are GDRs, not NYSE-listed American depositary receipts (ADRs). Their ISINs beginning with “US” do not change the exchange on which Samsung says they trade.
Can U.S. investors buy Samsung Electronics shares?
Samsung’s buying guide describes two possible routes for foreign investors seeking KRX shares: direct access through a Korean securities firm after completing the stated registration steps, or access through a local financial institution eligible to trade Korean stocks. Which route is available depends on the investor’s circumstances and the institution; Samsung’s guide does not establish a universal option for every U.S. investor.

Samsung says U.S. residents are prohibited from trading its LSE GDRs under Rule 144A. The London GDRs therefore should not be treated as a U.S.-listed substitute for Samsung shares. How many Samsung Electronics shares are outstanding?
At the end of Q2 2026, Samsung Electronics reported 6,648,649,811 shares outstanding: 5,846,278,608 common shares (87.9%) and 802,371,203 preferred shares (12.1%). These figures describe shares outstanding, not a U.S. listing. Samsung’s FAQ says the company listed on the Korea Stock Exchange on June 11, 1975. Has Samsung considered a U.S. ADR listing?
A July 15, 2026 report by Seoul Economic Daily said Samsung Electronics denied it was considering an ADR listing, attributing the statement to an unnamed company official. That is secondary reporting, not a formal filing or a guarantee about future plans. The present listing answer is based on Samsung’s own page, which identifies KRX original shares and LSE GDRs.
