Forbes Brasil ranked Ometto 58th among Brazilian billionaires in its September 2026 energy-sector article, estimating his fortune at R$6.3 billion and categorizing it as agroenergy-related. Forbes says listed shareholdings are its most important source of information and uses closing prices on June 30, 2026. The estimate is denominated in Brazilian reais.
Forbes also cautions that its list relies on public information and that fortunes may be understated. The R$7.6 billion figure in Forbes Brasil’s 2025 list is higher than the later R$6.3 billion estimate, but the two edition figures alone do not establish a precise audited change in Ometto’s wealth. Forbes’ March 2026 profile also reports that he committed R$500 million personally through Aguassanta Investimentos to a Raízen restructuring plan. That reported commitment is not a net-worth estimate.

Where Ometto’s wealth comes from
Forbes associates Ometto’s fortune with Cosan, Raízen, and Rumo. Cosan’s annual filing for the year ended December 31, 2025, describes him as chairman of Cosan, Compass, Rumo, Radar, Moove, and Raízen, and as their controlling shareholder; it also identifies him as CEO of Aguassanta Participações. These roles explain the business interests connected to his reported wealth, but the value of a company or its operations is not the same as the value of his personal stake.
Forbes Brasil’s 2026 profile traces his career from mechanical production engineering studies at the University of São Paulo’s Polytechnic School, through work at Unibanco and in the Votorantim group’s finance directorate, to joining his family’s businesses in the 1980s. It credits his leadership with helping expand Cosan from a regional sugar mill into a major sugar and ethanol producer. The profile provides this career context.
