The clearest recent example is an unnamed insider’s estimate that Justin Bieber’s 2026 Coachella deal would exceed $10 million for two weekends. Kanye West’s reported $8 million general performance fee is not evidence that Rolling Loud paid him that amount; a 2022 report said the festival-specific payment was unclear.
What the reported headliner figures show
The figures below are not a like-for-like fee schedule. They come from different years and sources, and none is a complete, promoter-confirmed disclosure of what either festival paid its headliners.
| Artist and event | Reported amount | What the figure describes |
|---|---|---|
| Justin Bieber, Coachella 2026 | More than $10 million for two weekends, described as $5 million per weekend | Rolling Stone reported an unnamed insider’s estimate in 2025. It is not a public contract or official festival disclosure. Rolling Stone |
| Kanye West (Ye), general performance fee | $8 million | Hot 97 reported in 2022 that West corrected a reported $1 million figure and said his general performance fee was $8 million. The report said it was unclear how much Rolling Loud Miami would pay him. Hot 97 |
| Kanye West, reported Coachella payday | $8 million | Hot 97 attributed this reported amount to CNN in 2022 as the Coachella payday West lost after withdrawing. It was a reported claim, not an official contract disclosure. Hot 97 |
These amounts should not be presented as equivalent. Bieber’s figure concerns a specific two-weekend Coachella booking and is an anonymous-source estimate. West’s $8 million figure was reported as his general performance fee, while the Rolling Loud deal amount was not established.
What is known about Rolling Loud Miami’s 2022 booking
West withdrew from Rolling Loud Miami 2022 before performing. The festival’s co-founders, Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler, said they had spent months working with West and his team on the performance, then announced that Kid Cudi would take his place. Future and Kendrick Lamar were also listed as headliners that year. A.V. Club

- Warm Tips: While these earplugs do not block all noise completely, they maintain music quality and keep the volume at a safer level. Not recommended for activities which need high noise reduction level like sleeping, hunting, or shooting
That booking history does not establish a Rolling Loud payment to West. Hot 97 explicitly reported that the amount the festival would pay him was unclear, so labeling $8 million as his Rolling Loud fee would overstate what is known.
A headline fee is not an artist’s take-home pay
A booking fee and the costs of staging a performance are separate amounts. Axios reported that Cardi B said she was paid $70,000 per weekend at Coachella in 2018, while spending nearly $300,000 of her own money on the performance. Those figures are her account as reported by Axios in 2025; they illustrate why a gross fee cannot be treated as profit. Axios

Festival costs also include more than headliner bookings. Breakaway Festival co-founder Zach Ruben told Axios that artist fees made up “about 40%, maybe 45%” of Breakaway’s total festival budget for a given weekend. That is one organizer’s estimate for Breakaway, not a universal share for Coachella, Rolling Loud, or festivals generally.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the available numbers cannot rank the festivals
The reported examples differ in scope: one is an estimate for a named Coachella deal covering two weekends, another is a general fee attributed to an artist, and the Rolling Loud-specific amount is unknown. Fees also do not reveal whether production spending was included or what an artist ultimately kept. The accessible reporting therefore does not establish a complete, verified list of headliner payments for either festival.

There are hints of pay differences within festival lineups, too, but not enough evidence here to assign reliable amounts. Big Sean told Just Jared that Harry Styles “got paid way, way, way, way more than me”; the accessible article does not provide the fee figures referenced in its slideshow. Just Jared
