There is no verified current, official model-by-model Samsung PTA tax table to rely on here. The title’s August 2024 figures should be treated as historical: identify your exact Samsung model and variant, then check the live DIRBS/FBR process for the payable amount before buying or importing the phone. “PTA tax” is common shorthand, but the registration and customs duty/tax steps involve related systems and agencies.
Why there is no reliable current tax amount for every Samsung model
The charge cannot be determined safely from the Samsung name alone. The exact model or variant and the assessment generated through the official process matter. The Federal Board of Revenue’s Valuation Ruling 1834-2023 lists customs values for Samsung models, but those values are not the current amount a consumer must pay to register a phone through DIRBS.
FBR’s Duty Calculator and Mobile Devices Regularization – DIRBS pages are official starting points. The model-level amounts were not readable on the accessed tool pages, so a present-day all-model list cannot be substantiated here. Do not convert an old customs value or a past tax screenshot into a current payable figure.
How to check the amount for your Samsung phone
- Identify the exact device. Confirm the model and variant, and have the phone’s IMEI available. A model-family name alone may not identify the device the system assesses.
- Use the current official DIRBS/FBR route. Follow the live portal’s instructions for entering device and identity details. FBR’s DIRBS guidance explains the system and points users toward PTA’s Device Verification System.
- Review the assessment generated for your case. If duty or tax is due, the process described in FBR’s Customs General Order No. 01 of 2024, dated 21 March 2024, generates a PSID for payment. Check the current portal instructions and amount before paying.
- Keep the payment confirmation and check device status. The 2024 order describes whitelisting after payment is confirmed. Verify the phone’s current compliance status through the official device verification route rather than assuming payment or purchase alone proves registration.
What “PTA tax” means in practice
DIRBS is the system used to identify and register devices for use on local mobile networks. FBR says compliant devices operating on those networks are automatically registered, while non-compliant devices may eventually be blocked. PTA device compliance and FBR/customs duty and tax assessment are connected parts of the process; calling the charge “PTA tax” can obscure which agency and system handles each step. Passport, CNIC and temporary visitor procedures
Registration treatment may depend on the applicant category shown in the current portal. The dated 21 March 2024 order describes individual applicants submitting CNIC and device details, and a temporary facility for eligible overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals visiting Pakistan. That facility includes identity, SIM, arrival and one-device conditions. Because these are provisions in a dated order, check DIRBS for current eligibility and requirements rather than assuming the same procedure still applies.
Why old amounts and screenshots can mislead
FBR has documented a past WeBOC module change that inadvertently removed a withholding-tax exemption and caused an excessive amount to appear for passport registration; the agency said excess payments would be refunded. Its clarification cited Rs 36,720 in that incident, but that figure is not a current Samsung registration tax and should not be used for budgeting. The episode is a reason to verify the assessment in the live official flow rather than treating a dated figure as a permanent tariff. See FBR’s clarification on excessive mobile-phone charges.

Before buying or importing a Samsung phone
- Ask for the exact model/variant and IMEI, then check compliance through the official verification route.
- Do not assume that a seller’s “PTA approved” description, a customs valuation, or a tax calculator estimate is proof of the phone’s status or your final payable amount.
- For a phone that is not yet registered, check the live DIRBS/FBR assessment for your identity category before setting a budget or completing an import.
