It is not a general new-member deal. Seniors 50 and older have a separate offer: 60% off Club or $50 off Plus, which works out to $24 or $70 before tax at the published standard rates.
Who qualifies for the $20 Sam’s Club membership?
Sam’s Club’s membership-offers page lists several groups that may have special offers, including military members, teachers, students, healthcare professionals, seniors, first responders, government employees and people receiving government assistance. Some offers require verification through ID.me. However, the footnote attached to the current $20 Club or $50 Plus price specifies military members; the page does not establish that every listed group can get that price.
The offer page’s general terms exclude renewals, current members, people whose membership was active during the previous six months, and Walmart or Sam’s Club associates. The military offer has a separate 24-month former-member lookback, so check that specific term rather than applying the general six-month rule to it.
Does Sam’s Club have a senior discount?
Yes. Sam’s Club’s senior offer is for qualifying new members age 50 or older who join online and verify through ID.me. It discounts Club by 60% or Plus by $50. You are not eligible if you had an active Sam’s Club membership during the prior six months.

The senior offer is separate from the military $20 deal. The senior page describes percentage and dollar discounts, not a flat $20 senior price.
What do Club and Plus cost with the senior offer?
Sam’s Club’s published standard annual prices are $60 for Club and $120 for Plus. Applying the senior discounts to those prices gives the following introductory amounts before applicable tax; these are calculations from the listed rates and discounts, not separately advertised fixed prices.

Which membership tier is the better value?
Choose based on the benefits you expect to use, not just the introductory discount. Club includes member-only fuel prices, Scan & Go, two membership cards and free curbside pickup on eligible orders over $50. Plus includes Club benefits, 2% Sam’s Cash on qualifying in-club purchases up to $750 a year, eligible shipping and delivery benefits, and early shopping.

- Club may fit if the lower ongoing price matters most and you mainly want core membership access, fuel pricing or curbside pickup on qualifying orders.
- Plus may fit if you expect to use its Sam’s Cash benefit, early shopping, or shipping and delivery offers. Those services have thresholds and exclusions, so check the order and location terms before counting on free service.
The published benefit information does not provide enough detail to calculate a break-even point for an individual shopper. Estimate your own qualifying purchases and use of Plus-only benefits, then compare them with the regular renewal-price difference.
What happens when the discounted year ends?
The introductory offer does not lock in a recurring price. Sam’s Club says it may charge the promotional price plus tax initially, then automatically bill the then-current membership price and applicable taxes each year until you cancel. The ID.me-hosted senior offer terms say to cancel at least 24 hours before renewal if you do not want another charge.

You can turn off auto-renew in your online account, at a Sam’s Club location, or by calling 888-746-7726. Check the renewal date and the price shown in your account so the first-year offer does not get mistaken for the annual rate going forward.

- Follow the offer’s verification and enrollment steps. The senior offer requires ID.me verification and online enrollment through its provided link.
- Review the price, tax, eligibility lookback, tier benefits and renewal terms at checkout before submitting payment. The senior offer is applied at checkout, and its displayed prices are pre-tax.
- Save the renewal date and decide whether to keep auto-renew enabled. If you do not want the next annual charge, cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
This is a membership discount, not Sam’s Club’s separate free trial. Trial conversion and charge rules do not determine eligibility or pricing for the senior offer.
