Yes. SoftBank Group Corp.’s acquisition of Graphcore was announced as complete on July 11, 2024—not as a deal that is still about to close. Graphcore continues to operate under its own name as a wholly owned SoftBank subsidiary.
When did the Graphcore deal close?
Graphcore announced on July 11, 2024, that SoftBank Group Corp. had acquired the company. SoftBank’s 2025 annual report also dates the acquisition to July 2024. Graphcore’s announcement is the contemporaneous statement of completion; the later SoftBank annual report provides a historical cross-check.

Who owns Graphcore now?
Graphcore’s company page describes it as a wholly owned subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp. The UK Companies House record for Graphcore Limited independently identifies SoftBank Group Corp. as the active person with significant control, with 75% or more of the shares and voting rights. That is the registry’s ownership threshold, not an exact share percentage. Graphcore’s company page and the Companies House record support the current ownership description.
Does Graphcore still operate as Graphcore?
Yes. The acquisition announcement said Graphcore would continue operating under the Graphcore name, and its current company page retains that description. The site also lists company updates in 2026, including an August Taipei office announcement and a July leadership update. Those updates indicate ongoing activity, but do not alter the 2024 completion date. Graphcore’s site carries the company updates and current ownership description.

Was the purchase price disclosed?
The cited transaction announcement and SoftBank annual report do not state a purchase price. The sources therefore do not establish a confirmed deal value; estimates should not be presented as the disclosed consideration.
What Graphcore said about the acquisition
Graphcore co-founder and CEO Nigel Toon described the transaction as “a tremendous endorsement of our team and their ability to build truly transformative AI technologies at scale, as well as a great outcome for our company.” That is the acquired company’s view of the deal, not an independent assessment.
