No—Martin Lewis did not endorse Quantum AI. A video circulating in July 2023 used AI to imitate his face and voice and falsely portrayed the promotion as an Elon Musk investment project. Lewis addressed the fake on ITV’s Good Morning Britain on 7 July 2023.

What happened in the Quantum AI video?

The promotion used a deepfake of MoneySavingExpert founder Martin Lewis to make an investment pitch appear credible. It falsely presented “Quantum AI” as an Elon Musk project. The video’s script claimed Musk had invested more than $3 billion; that figure was part of the fake advert’s story, not a verified investment.

Lewis had no connection to the promotion. The name “Quantum AI” in this incident identifies the promotion described in the 2023 report; that report does not establish that it is a legitimate or endorsed investment product.

What did Martin Lewis say on Good Morning Britain?

On 7 July 2023, Lewis discussed the fake clip on ITV’s Good Morning Britain and said: “This is a deepfake.” The programme presenter Kate Garraway also cautioned viewers before the clip was shown: “Before you take a look, we want to emphasise again, just hold in your mind, that this video is fake.” These remarks are recorded in MoneySavingExpert’s transcript of the interview.

What should you do if you see or respond to a similar advert?

If you only saw the post

  • Do not engage with the advert or follow its instructions.
  • Use the platform’s reporting controls to report the post or advert.

If you replied, shared details, or made contact

  1. End communication with the people behind the promotion.
  2. If you provided payment details or have recurring payments, contact your bank directly using a trusted number or its official app, and ask what steps to take to stop or challenge payments.
  3. Report the incident through the appropriate service. MoneySavingExpert’s 2023 guidance lists Action Fraud for England and Wales, Advice Direct Scotland and Police Scotland for Scotland, and Citizens Advice for further help. Check each service’s current contact details and reporting routes before using them.

For the original response guidance, see MoneySavingExpert’s report on the fake Quantum AI video.

What is known about the advert’s removal?

MoneySavingExpert reported in July 2023 that Meta said it had removed the original advert and copycat adverts using the same imagery. That is a report of the platform’s response at the time; it does not establish whether similar adverts are circulating now or how current enforcement works. The cited 2023 coverage also does not establish the present status or regulatory standing of any service using the Quantum AI name.
