The article said the club confirmed it was in an ongoing disagreement with Howe and rejected the allegations. It did not provide a verified hearing date or a later court outcome. The response attributed to Reading FC was: “The club denies the allegations and is in an active dispute with the individual concerned. Due to the potential for legal proceedings, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
What does a winding-up petition mean?
A winding-up petition is an application asking a court to make an order to wind up a company. Under the UK government’s guidance, compulsory liquidation is the court-ordered winding up of a company. The club’s operating company is THE READING FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED, company number 00053703. Companies House lists it as active and gives its registered office as Select Car Leasing Stadium, Reading. Reading FC’s company details page identifies Reading Football Club Ltd, number 53703, as the entity through which the club operates and says it is wholly owned by Redwood Holdings Limited. Companies House also has a separate record for READING F.C. LIMITED, company number 05885732. Its filing history records a final Gazette notice for compulsory strike-off dated 29 September 2026.
