Rob Couhig’s takeover of Reading FC is no longer pending: the sale was completed on 14 May 2025 and ratified by the English Football League (EFL), according to the BBC. The club’s current company details list Redwood Holdings Limited as its sole owner, with Couhig and Todd Trosclair as directors. Later uncertainty about the club has concerned separate issues, not whether this takeover went through.
What happened to the Reading FC takeover?
Reading announced a sale in principle to Redwood Holdings Limited on 3 May 2025. The club said the deal included the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park Training Ground, and that Redwood was a subsidiary of Dogwood Football LLC, owned by Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair. At that point, the club said completion remained subject to final legal technicalities. Reading FC’s 3 May announcement
On 14 May, the BBC reported that the sale had completed and received EFL ratification, transferring control of the club and the two properties through Redwood Holdings. BBC report on completion The club’s company-details page lists Redwood as the sole owner of Reading Football Club Limited and Couhig and Trosclair as directors.
Why did the sale remain uncertain for so long?
The uncertainty was real during the sale process, but the earlier obstacles should not be mistaken for evidence that the deal remained unfinished after 14 May 2025.

That report concerned the club’s property and academy, not completion of the Redwood takeover. Couhig also acknowledged that supporters had reason to be wary of club assurances, saying: “You have been let down before and I understand why trust does not come easily.” His denial addresses the specific reports cited; it does not establish that every other club dispute or supporter concern has been resolved.
