Across the four products highlighted here, Huggies Overnites and Millie Moon Luxury Overnight Diapers were The Bump’s 2026 picks, while BabyGearLab’s 2025 review favored Pampers Swaddlers Overnights for absorbency and named Pampers Baby-Dry its value pick. Those findings come from the publications’ separate tests, not a new test by this article.
The four overnight diapers evaluated
These four products come from two distinct reviews, with different candidates and testing methods. The rankings below are the publications’ findings, not a single combined head-to-head ranking.
| Product | What the review found | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Huggies Overnites | The Bump named it its best overall overnight diaper in its 2026 review. | The review’s result reflects its own controlled absorbency and family testing; it is not a universal guarantee. |
| Millie Moon Luxury Overnight Diapers | The Bump named it best for heavy wetters and reported that it held more liquid before leaking than any other diaper in that test. | The Bump also noted bulk and higher price as tradeoffs. Its result is specific to that test. |
| Pampers Swaddlers Overnights | BabyGearLab’s 2025 size 4 review found it led its tested group for absorbency. | Pampers says this product has been discontinued and replaced by ZZZ; the historical review does not establish current availability. |
| Pampers Baby-Dry | BabyGearLab selected it as a value pick. | BabyGearLab noted that its absorption was slower than the liquid applicator during the review’s leak test. Pampers describes it as a day-and-night option. |

How the testing differs
BabyGearLab’s overnight diaper review
BabyGearLab said it tested size 4 diapers to represent older babies and toddlers and conducted more than 24 individual tests. Its scoring weighted absorbency at 55%, leak protection at 20%, comfort at 15%, and durability at 10%. Its method included three timed mock-urine saturation tests with shifting weights, in-house leak testing, and hands-on overnight use. Because absorbency dominated the score, its ranking emphasizes capacity and containment more than comfort or durability.

The Bump’s 2026 picks
The Bump used separate controlled absorbency testing and family testing. Its top picks—Huggies Overnites overall and Millie Moon for heavy wetters—should be read as results of that publication’s candidate set and methodology, not as confirmation of BabyGearLab’s ranking. The Bump’s reported Millie Moon capacity result is likewise test-specific.
Consumer Reports’ absorption-speed method
Consumer Reports’ overnight review, updated April 7, 2025, tested size 4 diapers from 10 brands with absorption-speed and dryness tests. Its described absorption-speed test applied four saline batches totaling 140 milliliters, five minutes apart. The publication said Sposie Overnight Diaper Booster Pads were the slowest-absorbing product it tested; that does not show every booster will perform the same way, but it is a reason not to treat a booster as a guaranteed fix.
Rank #2

These publications used different test sets, methods, and tester populations, and products can change. Their findings are useful evidence, but they cannot be combined into one definitive ranking for every baby.
Which option may suit your situation?
- Want the pick named best overall in The Bump’s 2026 test? Consider Huggies Overnites, while keeping in mind that another child’s fit and wetting pattern may differ.
- Dealing with a heavy wetter? The Bump’s heavy-wetter pick was Millie Moon Luxury Overnight Diapers. Its reported capacity advantage came with tradeoffs in bulk and price.
- Looking at an older BabyGearLab ranking? Pampers Swaddlers Overnights led that review for absorbency, but Pampers now says it is discontinued and replaced by ZZZ.
- Want a value or day-and-night option? BabyGearLab named Pampers Baby-Dry its value pick; Pampers describes it as suitable for day and night. The review’s slower absorption observation is worth weighing if leaks happen quickly after a change.
- Prefer reusable diapers? BabyGearLab said GroVia O.N.E. performed best among its cloth options, though it remained behind the leading disposable for absorbency in that review.
Current size ranges, pack counts, and prices are not established consistently across these reviews. Check the current package or official product page for the size that fits your child, and compare price per diaper using live pack prices rather than relying on historical rankings.

Why a diaper may leak overnight
Overnight leaks can reflect a diaper reaching capacity, liquid not absorbing quickly enough, a poor fit, or the child’s sleeping position and wetting pattern. Pampers’ guide says babies can release more urine overnight while spending a longer stretch in one diaper. A leak does not by itself prove that a brand is defective or that a larger size is needed.
- Check that the diaper fits snugly around the waist and legs without gaps or overly tight marks.
- Use the size range on the current package as a starting point, then reassess fit if leaks recur.
- Notice when leaks occur: a quick leak may point to absorption speed or fit, while a saturated diaper after a long stretch may indicate capacity is the issue.
- If using a booster pad, treat it as an experiment rather than a sure solution; Consumer Reports found Sposie pads slowest to absorb among products in its test.
Pampers identifies Pampers ZZZ as its current dedicated overnight diaper and lists sizes 3–6 in its guide updated September 4, 2026. That is a manufacturer statement, not an independent comparative test result. The brand also says ZZZ replaced Swaddlers Overnights.

How to choose without overpaying
For a household budget, the useful comparison is not just the package price: calculate cost per diaper from the current price and count, then weigh it against how often leaks lead to clothing or bedding changes and extra laundry. This does not mean a more expensive diaper will necessarily save money; it gives a consistent way to compare options for your own routine.
