Parker himself has said he has seen widely different estimates online and does not know which one is correct. Without verified information about his assets, debts, and income, any specific figure should be treated as speculation.
Why there is no dependable net-worth figure
Net worth means the value of someone’s assets minus their liabilities. The sources available for Parker do not provide the financial records needed to calculate that total. In an iHeart transcript, Parker discusses encountering conflicting online claims and says, “you can’t believe everything you read.” His comments underscore the uncertainty; they do not validate any estimate.

What is known about Parker’s career and potential income sources
Parker’s career spans several kinds of music work, so the popularity of one song cannot by itself establish his wealth. NAMM’s oral-history entry describes his beginnings in Detroit, work and touring with Stevie Wonder, and later writing and session work in Los Angeles. It says Raydio had its first gold record in 1978 and that Parker was tapped for the Ghostbusters assignment in 1984. The entry also describes him as remaining active in music. Songwriting and licensing can be sources of recurring revenue for music creators, and Parker discussed the long life and licensing of “Ghostbusters” in a 2016 interview. But that interview does not disclose his contract terms, royalty splits, collection statements, or current payments, so it cannot support an estimate of his personal income. Easy Song lists Parker as the composer of “Ghostbusters” and Sony/ATV Tunes LLC as its publisher. That third-party catalog entry is not a complete legal record of every right, royalty stream, or present ownership arrangement. Easy Song’s catalog entry for “Ghostbusters”

How to assess net-worth claims about musicians
A credible estimate needs a clear date, a consistent method, and evidence covering both assets and liabilities. For a songwriter and performer, public career milestones or a song’s cultural reach may offer context, but they do not reveal royalty terms, expenses, taxes, debts, or ownership shares.
- Look for disclosure: Is the figure based on financial statements, court filings, or another documented source?
- Check what is counted: Does it include debts as well as assets, and does it distinguish gross income from net worth?
- Check the date and method: Is the estimate current, and does the source explain how it was calculated?
- Be wary of unsourced repetition: Multiple websites repeating a number do not make it verified if they trace back to no documented calculation.
