In the United States, Apple ran its four-day Apple Shopping Event from Friday, November 28, through Monday, December 1, 2025. Shoppers who bought selected products directly from Apple received an Apple Gift Card worth between $25 and $250. The maximum reward was $250 on eligible 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro configurations with M4 Pro or M4 Max chips.
The promotion has ended. This is a retrospective deal report for the U.S. Apple Store, not a live offer. Apple’s original shopping-event page now redirects to Apple’s general Store page.

What Apple offered for Black Friday 2025
Apple’s event gave customers a promotional Apple Gift Card when they purchased qualifying hardware and accessories through Apple. The reward depended on the exact product and, for some Macs, the configuration.
The complete U.S. offer reconstructed from contemporaneous coverage was as follows. Because Apple’s original promotion terms are no longer available as a live page, this should be treated as the reported 2025 U.S. offer, rather than a current Apple promotion. MacRumors’ contemporaneous report provides the most detailed product-by-product breakdown.

There was some variation in secondary summaries, particularly around which iPad keyboard models qualified. The table above uses the more specific model-level list reported by MacRumors rather than adding the iPad Pro keyboard mentioned in a broader Macworld summary.
It was a gift card with purchase—not automatically “$250 off”
The headline reward could sound like an immediate rebate, but Apple structured the offer differently. Based on the surviving discussion of the 2025 terms in the Apple Community, the promotion appeared as a linked product-and-gift-card transaction:
- The customer added an eligible Apple product to the cart.
- The promotional Apple Gift Card appeared as a separate cart item.
- Apple applied a promotional adjustment to the product equal to the card’s face value.
- Apple charged for the gift card itself.
- The customer received the product and retained the gift card for a later Apple purchase.
For example, a hypothetical $1,399 MacBook with a $200 promotion could have appeared approximately like this before tax:
| Invoice line | Amount |
|---|---|
| MacBook product after promotional adjustment | $1,199 |
| Promotional Apple Gift Card | $200 |
| Total before tax | $1,399 |
In other words, the customer did not generally buy the MacBook for $1,199 and then receive another $200 of value at no cost in the same transaction. The $200 card was charged as part of the order while the product line was reduced by the same amount. The economic benefit came later, when the customer used the card.
The surviving public material confirms the separate gift-card charge and the future-purchase structure, but it does not preserve a definitive 2025 delivery trigger or delivery channel for every order. Shoppers should therefore not assume that the reward was available as an instant checkout credit or that it could be applied to the original order.
What an Apple Gift Card could be used for
Apple’s current U.S. payment documentation says an Apple Gift Card can be used for Apple hardware and accessories at Apple Stores, Apple.com, and the Apple Store app. It can also be used for App Store apps and games, Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Books, iCloud storage, and other Apple services. See Apple’s current payment and gift-card guidance for the rules that apply today.
Important limitations include:
- The card can be used only in the country or region where it was purchased.
- It cannot be used to buy another Apple Gift Card.
- Apple Gift Cards cannot be returned.
- The card is not cash and should not be valued as cash if the recipient does not plan to buy from Apple.
- Apple’s current U.S. payment help says up to eight Apple Gift Cards can be used online or by phone, and up to 20 can be used in a single Apple Store transaction.
- Apple distinguishes the newer all-in-one Apple Gift Card from older Apple Store gift cards; the cards are not interchangeable in every respect. Apple’s gift-card terms explain the distinction.
The practical test is simple: a $200 card had close to $200 of value for someone who already expected to buy Apple accessories, AppleCare, apps, subscriptions, iCloud storage, or another Apple device. It was worth less than $200 to someone who would otherwise stop spending after the original purchase.
How large was the effective reward?
The following comparisons show the card’s nominal value against selected Apple starting prices available around the event. They are not cash savings, and they do not account for retailer discounts, taxes, trade-ins, or configuration differences.

| Product example | 2025 card | Approximate face-value reward | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 13-inch M4 MacBook Air | $175 | About 17.5% of a $999 starting price | Strong if the buyer planned another Apple purchase; a retailer’s immediate discount could still be better |
| 15-inch M4 MacBook Air | $200 | About 16.7% of a $1,199 starting price | Useful for an Apple loyalist, but compare the exact configuration elsewhere |
| Eligible M4 Pro/M4 Max MacBook Pro | $250 | About 12.5% against an illustrative $1,999 starting configuration | The largest card was not necessarily the largest real saving |
| 11-inch M3 iPad Air | $100 | About 16.7% of a $599 starting price | More compelling if accessories or services were already planned |
| iPhone 16 | $75 | About 9.4% of an $799 price reference | Often weaker than a carrier promotion, trade-in offer, or reseller discount |
| AirPods Pro 3 | $50 | About 20.1% of a $249 starting price | Retailers frequently offered an immediate price reduction instead |
| Apple Watch Series 11 | $50 | About 12.5% of a $399 starting price | Worth comparing with retailer sales on the same size and connectivity model |
The price references came from Apple’s product announcements and product pages, including the M4 MacBook Air, M3 iPad Air, AirPods Pro 3, iPhone 16, and Apple Watch Series 11.
Which recent Apple products were excluded?
Apple’s event did not cover many of the products that had launched or been refreshed most recently in 2025. The reported exclusions were:

The event also could not be combined with Apple education pricing, according to contemporaneous reporting. The exclusion pattern reflected Apple’s familiar holiday strategy: older or less recently refreshed products received the incentive, while the newest flagship models were left out. A shopper considering an excluded product had to compare retailer pricing, carrier offers, trade-in credits, or education pricing separately.
Product-by-product buying analysis
MacBook Air
The 13-inch M4 MacBook Air received a $175 card, while the 15-inch model received $200. On a face-value basis, those were among Apple’s stronger rewards, especially compared with the lower price of the Air relative to a high-end MacBook Pro.
However, the comparison had to use the same screen size, memory, storage, and condition. Contemporaneous Mac deal coverage listed a 13-inch M4 MacBook Air at $949 in one retailer offer, compared with a $1,199 configuration. That is an immediate $250 reduction, but it should not be compared with Apple’s $175 card unless the configurations match. See Macworld’s contemporaneous Mac deal report.
Verdict: Apple made sense for a buyer who wanted a particular build-to-order configuration, direct support, engraving, pickup, or a guaranteed future use for the gift card. A reseller was usually preferable for the lowest immediate price.
MacBook Pro
The $250 reward applied only to eligible 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro configurations with M4 Pro or M4 Max. It did not apply to every MacBook Pro, and the newer M5 MacBook Pro was excluded.
The maximum card should not be mistaken for the best deal. Retailers could discount remaining M4 inventory directly, while Apple’s $250 card attached to a full-price purchase. A buyer choosing Apple for a specific configuration, AppleCare, support, or build-to-order availability should compare the value of those benefits with the exact reseller price.
iPad
The 11-inch and 13-inch M3 iPad Air earned a $100 card. The iPad with A16 and iPad mini earned $50. The M5 iPad Pro was excluded.
Because iPad discounts are common at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and other retailers, the $50 or $100 card had to beat a direct price reduction on the same storage and connectivity model. Accessories also mattered: if the buyer planned to purchase a keyboard or Apple Pencil from Apple, the card’s value was easier to realize.
iPhone
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus earned $75, while the iPhone 16e earned $50. The iPhone 17 family and iPhone Air were excluded.
iPhone comparisons were more complicated than simply comparing Apple’s card with an unlocked retail price. Apple checkout could display different amounts depending on whether the buyer chose an unlocked or “connect later” purchase or activated with a carrier. Carrier bill credits, trade-in credit, and activation incentives were separate benefits and should not be added to Apple’s gift-card amount without checking the exact terms.
For example, a $75 Apple card could be less valuable than a carrier’s larger bill-credit promotion, but a carrier offer might require a new line, a specific plan, or a multi-month commitment. The relevant comparison was the total cost over the required period, not the headline credit alone. Apple’s iPhone buying page explains how connectivity and carrier choices can affect the displayed price.

Apple Watch
Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch SE 3 earned $50. Apple Watch Ultra 3 was excluded.
Retailers frequently discounted Apple Watch models directly, so the Apple card was usually less attractive for a shopper focused only on the lowest cash price. Exact case size, cellular capability, band, and generation mattered when comparing offers.
Audio
AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation earned $25. AirPods Pro 3 earned $50, and AirPods Max earned $75.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Audio products were among the clearest cases where resellers could be better. Contemporaneous coverage listed AirPods 4 at $69 and AirPods Pro 3 at $219.99 at retailers, including Amazon-related deals. MacRumors’ AirPods deal roundup and Macworld’s Apple promotion analysis both documented the competition. Those prices were historical, not current offers.
Home products and accessories
Apple TV 4K and the listed iPad keyboards earned $25. A full-size HomePod earned $50. Beats rewards ranged from $25 to $50 depending on the model. Apple Pencil Pro earned $25.
For a small accessory purchase, a $25 card could be useful only if the buyer had another Apple purchase in mind. A direct retailer discount of $10 or $20 might be financially better than receiving a card that would sit unused.
Apple versus Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and other retailers
There was no universal winner because a retailer’s price depended on the exact model, configuration, condition, membership requirements, and stock. But the decision rule was straightforward:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Apple’s effective value = the Apple Gift Card’s value only if the buyer will use the entire card.
Compare that with:
Reseller value = immediate cash discount + retailer rewards or promotions − shipping, membership, activation, financing, or other required costs.
Do not treat a $250 Apple Gift Card as automatically equivalent to $250 off. It is economically similar to $250 off only for someone who would otherwise spend that $250 within Apple’s ecosystem.

Apple was the better choice when:
- The shopper specifically wanted to buy directly from Apple.
- The desired model or build-to-order Mac was not meaningfully discounted elsewhere.
- The buyer planned to purchase Apple accessories, AppleCare, apps, subscriptions, iCloud storage, or another Apple product.
- Apple’s engraving, in-store pickup, Personal Setup, direct support, or return experience had meaningful value.
- The buyer preferred avoiding a carrier contract or a retailer’s membership requirement.
A retailer was usually the better choice when:
- The priority was the lowest immediate out-of-pocket price.
- The product was AirPods, Apple Watch, iPad, or an older Mac configuration that retailers were clearing out.
- A direct retailer discount exceeded Apple’s gift-card value.
- The buyer wanted a product Apple excluded, such as an iPhone 17, iPhone Air, M5 MacBook Pro, M5 iPad Pro, or Apple Watch Ultra 3.
- The buyer was unlikely to spend the Apple card later.
Retailer pricing also carried its own trade-offs. A carrier deal might require bill credits over time; a warehouse-club or membership price might require paid membership; financing could alter cash flow without reducing the total price; and third-party marketplace listings might differ in warranty or seller status. The right comparison was always the same product, same configuration, same warranty, and same total cost.

The card could appear as a separate charge
A separate gift-card line could make the order look as though Apple had charged too much. The product line was reduced by the promotional amount, while the gift card appeared as a separately charged item. The total could therefore remain close to the product’s ordinary list price before tax.
The card was not applied to the original order
The surviving 2025 terms discussion described the promotional card as redeemable for future purchases. It was not an instant discount that could be applied to the same product order. The card could not be treated as a way to lower the original checkout total below the advertised product price.
Taxes still applied
The promotion did not eliminate applicable sales tax. The final tax and total could depend on how Apple displayed the product adjustment and gift-card line in the shopper’s jurisdiction. The safest way to evaluate the offer was to inspect the final order summary rather than calculate from the headline reward.
Financing and Apple Card terms were separate
The original 2025 financing-specific terms are no longer publicly visible in the supplied records. Customers should not assume that Apple Card financing, installment billing, or another payment promotion stacked with the shopping event. A financing offer could change cash flow without changing the underlying economic value of the product or gift card.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Trade-ins and carrier offers required separate calculations
A trade-in credit could reduce the amount paid for a device, while a carrier offer could provide bill credits or activation incentives. Those benefits were separate from the Apple Gift Card. They should be evaluated independently and then combined only if the exact terms allowed it.
Returns could reverse more than the hardware
Apple’s current help documentation says Apple Gift Cards cannot be returned. The 2025 Apple Community discussion reported that a returned product could be refunded using the discounted product-line amount while the gift card appeared separately. That does not establish a universal return rule for every order.
A customer should not assume they could return the hardware and keep the promotional value. Before returning either item, ask Apple how the linked product-and-gift-card transaction will be reversed and keep the order documentation. Apple’s current shopping help also notes that product availability and supply limitations can affect orders.
Other restrictions and practical edge cases
- Education pricing: Contemporaneous reporting said the event could not be combined with Apple education pricing. Compare the education price separately.
- Refurbished products: Apple Certified Refurbished products did not qualify. A refurbished Mac could therefore have delivered a larger real saving than a new Mac paired with a gift card.
- Model specificity: “iPad,” “MacBook Pro,” and “Apple Watch” were not sufficient descriptions. Generation, screen size, chip, connectivity, and configuration determined eligibility.
- Availability: Apple reserved the ability to limit quantities or cancel orders if it could not supply a product. High-demand Mac configurations were especially worth checking early during the event.
- Geography: The amounts in this article were U.S. dollar amounts. Apple ran related shopping events in other countries, but currencies, values, and eligible products differed.
Who should have bought from Apple?
The promotion was most defensible for an Apple ecosystem customer with a planned second purchase. For example, someone buying an M4 MacBook Air who already expected to buy AppleCare, an iPad keyboard, AirPods, iCloud storage, or an Apple subscription could reasonably treat the card near its face value.

Who should have skipped Apple?
A price-sensitive shopper who wanted the lowest immediate cost generally had better odds with Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, B&H, or another authorized retailer—particularly for AirPods, Apple Watch, iPad, and older Mac configurations. The same was true for anyone who did not expect to spend the gift card.
The latest 2025 products also made Apple’s event less useful for some buyers. If the target was an iPhone 17, iPhone Air, M5 MacBook Pro, M5 iPad Pro, Apple Watch Ultra 3, or M5 Vision Pro, Apple’s event did not provide a qualifying reward at all.
Bottom line on Apple’s 2025 Black Friday deal
Apple’s 2025 event was a loyalty incentive, not a storewide sale. The $175 and $200 cards on the M4 MacBook Air and the $250 card on eligible M4 Pro/M4 Max MacBook Pro models were the headline offers, but their value depended on whether the buyer would later spend the card with Apple.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For many shoppers, especially those buying AirPods, Apple Watch, iPad, or a Mac configuration widely stocked by retailers, an immediate reseller discount was the better personal-finance choice. Apple was most attractive when direct purchase benefits mattered or the customer already had a specific, near-term use for the gift card.
Historical update: The promotion ended on December 1, 2025. All offers and retailer prices discussed above are historical and should not be treated as live deals.
Frequently Asked Questions
Was Apple’s 2025 Black Friday offer really $250 off?
No. The maximum offer was a $250 Apple Gift Card with an eligible M4 Pro or M4 Max MacBook Pro purchase. The product line could be reduced by the same amount while the gift card appeared as a separately charged item, leaving the initial total close to the ordinary product price before tax.
Could the Apple Gift Card be used on the original Black Friday order?
No. The surviving discussion of the 2025 promotion terms described the card as intended for future purchases. It was not an instant checkout credit for the product that generated it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhich newest Apple products were excluded in 2025?
The reported exclusions included the iPhone 17 family, iPhone Air, M5 MacBook Pro, M5 iPad Pro, Apple Watch Ultra 3, M5 Vision Pro, and refurbished products. Education pricing also could not be combined with the event, according to contemporaneous reporting.
Was Apple or a retailer cheaper during Black Friday 2025?
It depended on the exact model and configuration, but retailers were often better for immediate cash savings. Contemporaneous coverage listed examples including AirPods 4 at $69, AirPods Pro 3 at $219.99, and a 13-inch M4 MacBook Air at $949 for a particular configuration. Those historical prices should be compared only with the same Apple model, storage, condition, and warranty.
What happened if someone returned a product bought with the promotional card?
The original promotion terms are no longer live, and return handling can depend on the linked order. Do not assume the customer could return the hardware while keeping the card. Apple should be contacted before returning either item, because the refund may reflect the promotional product-line adjustment and the card itself may not be returnable.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Apple’s 2025 Black Friday promotion delivered an Apple Gift Card—not an immediate price cut—worth $25 to $250 on selected U.S. products from November 28 through December 1. It was worthwhile for shoppers who planned to spend more with Apple; otherwise, a retailer’s direct discount was often the better deal.
