Stakeholder consultations for India’s 8th Central Pay Commission are underway. As of October 3, 2026, its official website lists a Bengaluru visit for October 7–8 and a Mumbai visit for October 22–23; the deadline to request a Mumbai appointment is October 10. The online questionnaire and memorandum-submission windows have closed. These meetings are part of the Commission’s consultation process—not an announcement of revised salaries, pensions or arrears.
Upcoming 8th Pay Commission stakeholder meetings
The Commission’s homepage lists these upcoming visits as of October 3, 2026. Check the official 8th Central Pay Commission website for any schedule changes.
| Location | Visit dates | Appointment-request deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Bengaluru | October 7–8, 2026 | September 18, 2026 (passed) |
| Mumbai | October 22–23, 2026 | October 10, 2026 |
The October 10 deadline is for requesting a Mumbai appointment; it is not the date of the Mumbai visit. The official notices do not establish exact appointment times or guarantee that every request will receive a meeting.
The Commission’s notice index also lists visits or interactions in Jaipur, Chandigarh, Puducherry, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow and Ladakh. Those should not be read as upcoming unless the current official calendar identifies them that way. Its homepage organizes calendar information under association and union meetings, ministry and department meetings, and State and Union Territory visits.

The page listed central government employees (industrial and non-industrial), All India Services personnel, defence personnel, Union Territory personnel, specified court and regulatory-body staff, pensioners, associations and unions, and central ministries, departments, organizations and Union Territories as potential contributors. That list does not reopen the expired submission window.
Is the 8th CPC questionnaire still open?
No. The Commission’s questionnaire page says its 18-question MyGov questionnaire was available from February 5 to March 31, 2026. Paper responses, emails and PDFs were not being considered.

Does January 1, 2026 confirm revised pay or arrears?
No. In its announcement on the Commission’s terms of reference, the PMO said the effect of the recommendations “would normally be expected from 01.01.2026,” based on the usual ten-year pattern. “Normally be expected” describes a convention-based expectation; it is not confirmation that revised pay has been approved, implemented or paid, or that arrears have been authorized.
Have a fitment factor, minimum salary or pension increase been confirmed?
The cited official announcements establish the Commission’s process and timetable, not final pay or pension amounts. The PMO says the Commission should make recommendations within 18 months of its constitution and may submit interim reports if needed. No fitment factor, minimum pay or pension increase is confirmed in those sources. Figures proposed by unions or other commentators should not be presented as a Commission recommendation or Government decision unless an official notification confirms them.

What will the Commission consider?
The PMO’s terms-of-reference announcement lists fiscal prudence, spending on development and welfare, the cost of unfunded non-contributory pension schemes, effects on State finances, and comparisons with public- and private-sector emoluments and service conditions among the matters for consideration. Those factors describe the Commission’s remit; they do not determine the eventual recommendations in advance.
