The 2026 Toyota Tacoma is a lightly revised U.S. pickup, not a ground-up redesign. Toyota adds appearance details, a new color, a new wheel-and-tire package, and standard towing equipment on one cab configuration. The current Toyota retail page lists a starting MSRP of $32,545, which is $955 above the 2025 launch MSRP of $31,590. Toyota’s earlier announcement quoted a different 2026 starting figure of $32,145, so the date and source matter when comparing prices.
What changed on the 2026 Tacoma?
Toyota’s 2026 changes center on equipment, styling and packaging. The underlying Tacoma generation and its two available powertrains carry over, while selected trims receive new visual or capability features.

Toyota USA Newsroom described these updates on November 13, 2025. They are meaningful if you were already choosing one of the affected trims, but they do not amount to a new Tacoma generation.
How much more does the 2026 Tacoma cost?
Toyota’s current U.S. retail page lists the 2026 Tacoma at a starting MSRP of $32,545. Toyota’s December 17, 2024 launch release for the 2025 model listed a starting MSRP of $31,590, excluding Delivery Processing and Handling. Comparing those two published starting figures produces a $955 year-over-year increase.

There is also an earlier 2026 number to keep separate. Toyota’s November 13, 2025 newsroom announcement said the truck was expected to start at $32,145, excluding delivery and handling fees. That announcement figure is $400 below the current retail-page listing. It should not be silently combined with the current price when calculating the increase.
All of these are U.S. MSRPs, not guaranteed transaction prices. Destination, processing and handling charges, dealer pricing, options, taxes, registration and geography can change the amount you actually pay. Before signing, compare the vehicle’s window sticker and the dealer’s out-the-door worksheet.

Which 2026 Tacoma gets the new wheels and tires?
TRD Off-Road i-FORCE Premium Package
The specifically new package is on the TRD Off-Road i-FORCE Premium configuration: 18-inch TRD wheels paired with 32-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires. The package is distinct from the larger tire setups on the two top off-road trims.
Trailhunter
Trailhunter uses 33-inch Goodyear Rugged-Terrain tires on bronze-colored 18-inch wheels. Its hardware includes Old Man Emu 2.5-inch forged monotube shocks with rear piggyback reservoirs, a high-mount air intake and a bronze Toyota grille with an integrated LED light bar. Toyota specifies Trailhunter as hybrid-only.

TRD Pro

Tire diameter alone does not tell you whether an aftermarket wheel or tire will fit. Check load rating, wheel width, offset, brake clearance, suspension clearance and the exact cab and drivetrain before buying replacements.

What engines and fuel-economy figures are available?
Toyota lists a 2.4-liter turbocharged i-FORCE four-cylinder with up to 278 horsepower and 317 lb.-ft. of torque. The available i-FORCE MAX hybrid produces up to 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque; Toyota specifies an eight-speed automatic transmission for the hybrid system.
In its November 2025 announcement, Toyota quoted 23 mpg combined for the hybrid and 26 mpg highway for the standard engine. Those are Toyota’s published estimates, not a guarantee for every body style, drivetrain, tire package or driving pattern. The two figures also use different test measures, so they are not a direct apples-to-apples comparison.
Do the 2026 changes justify paying more?
The increase makes more sense when you want affected equipment
- Choose the TRD Off-Road i-FORCE Premium Package if the factory 18-inch wheels and 32-inch all-terrain tires are worth more to you than an equivalent aftermarket setup.
- Choose an SR XtraCab if a standard tow hitch avoids buying and installing one later.
- Choose Trailhunter or TRD Pro when their suspension, intake, tire and wheel hardware is central to your off-road use, rather than paying for appearance alone.
- Choose a 2026 color or badge treatment only after confirming that the exact configuration you want offers it.
The increase is harder to justify when the update is mostly cosmetic
If you are comparing similarly equipped trucks and do not need the new wheel package, hitch or a specific color, the 2026 changes may not deliver a large functional gain over a discounted 2025 Tacoma. A dealer’s remaining 2025 inventory could offset some or all of the nominal $955 difference, but that depends on local supply and negotiated price.
