Lente Desportiva published this 13-name ranking on October 16, 2025, listing owners from Nassef Sawiris at £4.9 billion to the Public Investment Fund (PIF) at £478 billion. Those amounts are the publication’s reported figures—not independently verified or directly comparable net worths. Its article does not disclose a valuation date or calculation method, and the PIF is a sovereign wealth fund, not an individual.
The 13 owners in Lente Desportiva’s 2025 ranking
The table reproduces the sequence, club labels and amounts in Lente Desportiva’s article. The publication does not state the valuation date or methodology behind the GBP figures, so they should be read as that article’s estimates rather than current personal net worth figures.

Why the ranking needs a qualification
The figures are not confirmed personal net worths
Lente Desportiva gives GBP amounts but does not explain how they were calculated, when they were valued, which underlying estimates it used, or when any currency conversion took place. It is therefore not possible to establish from that article whether every amount measures personal wealth on a consistent basis. The £4.9 billion-to-£478 billion span is the range in its list, not a like-for-like comparison of individual fortunes.
#1 Best Overall
The PIF is a fund, not a person
The article places the PIF’s £478 billion figure beside personal fortunes without specifying whether it represents fund assets, a valuation or another measure. It should not be described as one person’s net worth or treated as directly comparable with the individual entries.
Ownership labels can change
The article calls Ratcliffe a minority owner of Manchester United and describes Arnault’s Paris FC status as “incoming.” Those are the source’s own descriptions, not a separate verification of current ownership stakes.

How this differs from Forbes’ 2025 ranking
Forbes Australia’s “The world’s richest sports team owners 2025” is a cross-sport ranking, not a football-only list of 13. Its eligibility covers majority or controlling owners of teams in selected North American top-tier leagues and first-tier European soccer leagues. Forbes expanded the list to 25 owners, including 12 soccer teams, and dates its net-worth estimates to March 7, 2025. It reported combined estimated wealth of $607 billion for those 25 owners; that total does not describe Lente Desportiva’s 13 entries.
The lists also differ in who qualifies. Forbes Australia’s ranking included soccer-linked owners such as Idan Ofer, François Pinault and David Tepper, while Bernard Arnault was excluded because Paris FC was in France’s second tier when Forbes compiled its list. A separate April 2, 2025 compilation by Calcio e Finanza, based on Forbes figures, includes other football-linked names such as Carlos Slim, Mark Mateschitz, the Hartono brothers and Anders Holch Povlsen. These lists should not be combined as if they used identical dates, selection rules or wealth measures.

A ranking is easier to interpret when it makes its comparison rules explicit. Look for:
Rank #4
- Wealth measure: whether the number is personal net worth, family wealth or fund assets.
- Valuation date: wealth estimates can change with markets and currency exchange rates.
- Currency and conversion date: a GBP figure converted from another currency may depend on the rate and date used.
- Ownership test: whether the person controls a club, holds a minority stake or is linked to an incoming investment.
- Eligible teams and leagues: a football-only ranking will not necessarily match one covering several sports or only top-tier leagues.
Forbes Australia supplies a valuation date and eligibility rules for its separate cross-sport list. Those details do not fill the methodological gaps in Lente Desportiva’s football-owner ranking.
