In the latest reviewed quarterly ranking, covering positions reported for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, BlackRock had the largest reported AAPL position by value, followed by Vanguard Capital Management and State Street. These are institutional managers’ reported positions—not a live list of Apple’s ultimate beneficial owners or proof that the managers own those shares for themselves.

Top 10 institutional managers reporting Apple stock

The table ranks reporting managers by the reported value of their AAPL positions in the Q2 2026 aggregation. Share counts and position values are as reported for the quarter ended June 30, 2026; dollar values are reported values, not current market values. The aggregation ranks Form 13F-HR reporters and excludes put and call option positions. Its ordering is by reported value, so JPMorgan Chase appears ahead of Norges Bank despite reporting fewer shares.

Rank Reporting manager AAPL shares reported Reported position value
1 BlackRock 1,162,996,939 $336.5 billion
2 Vanguard Capital Management 959,107,911 $277.5 billion
3 State Street 615,129,929 $178.0 billion
4 Geode Capital Management 371,336,543 $107.2 billion
5 Vanguard Portfolio Management 334,119,156 $96.7 billion
6 FMR 325,348,754 $94.1 billion
7 Morgan Stanley 242,614,238 $70.2 billion
8 Berkshire Hathaway 227,917,808 $66.0 billion
9 JPMorgan Chase 228,762,008 $64.5 billion
10 Norges Bank 190,726,866 $55.2 billion

These figures come from the 13F Pro Q2 2026 Apple institutional-holders aggregation. A 13F position is a manager’s reported securities holding, not a definitive account of the people or institutions with the ultimate economic interest in the shares.

What Apple’s proxy says about beneficial owners

Apple’s 2026 proxy statement uses a different measure and different dates. It says that 14,697,926,000 Apple common shares were issued and outstanding as of January 2, 2026. Its table lists entities it knew to beneficially own more than 5%, alongside specified directors and officers.

Entity in Apple’s proxy Shares listed Percentage listed Date underlying the ownership figure
The Vanguard Group 1,415,826,462 9.63% June 30, 2025
BlackRock, Inc. 1,043,713,019 7.10% December 31, 2023

The proxy table is dated January 2, 2026, but its footnotes trace Vanguard’s figure to a June 30, 2025 Schedule 13G/A and BlackRock’s to a December 31, 2023 Schedule 13G/A. They should not be presented as those firms’ current 2026 positions. See Apple’s 2026 proxy statement for the table and its footnotes.

Why the rankings and share counts differ

They report different things

Apple’s proxy identifies certain beneficial owners above a threshold and specified insiders. The 13F aggregation groups positions reported by institutional managers. Those filings have different purposes and scopes; neither table is a real-time share register showing every ultimate owner, voting arrangement, or economic interest.

The reporting dates do not match

The 13F ranking is for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. Apple’s proxy’s outstanding-share count is as of January 2, 2026, while the underlying dates for the two proxy ownership entries are June 2025 and December 2023. Differences between the tables therefore do not, by themselves, indicate an error or a change in ownership.

Vanguard appears under separate reporting names

The Q2 aggregation lists Vanguard Capital Management and Vanguard Portfolio Management separately, as well as other Vanguard-related reporting entities. Do not add selected rows and call the result The Vanguard Group’s total without a documented consolidation method. The SEC’s filing detail shows that Vanguard Capital Management LLC filed a Schedule 13G concerning Apple on April 29, 2026; that filing detail is available through the SEC filing record.

Berkshire is a large holder, but not first in this ranking

Berkshire Hathaway reported 227,917,808 shares worth about $66.0 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, placing eighth by reported position value in the aggregation. Its well-known position does not make it the largest manager in this dataset.

How to read an institutional ownership figure

  • Shares reported: the quantity in the relevant filing or aggregation, tied to that source’s reporting date.
  • Reported position value: the value shown by the aggregation for that reporting period, not a quote for what the position is worth now.
  • Beneficial ownership: a filing concept used in Apple’s proxy table; it is not interchangeable with a manager’s 13F position.
  • Economic ownership and voting power: these can depend on client arrangements, custody, and voting authority. A manager’s reported position alone does not establish that it owns or controls all the shares for its own account.

For that reason, the top-ten table is best read as a dated ranking of reported institutional-manager positions—not as a ranking of Apple’s owners by personal wealth, control, or ultimate economic stake.
