The available offer disclosures do not establish which balance-transfer card had the longest 0% APR period in April 2026. The latest surfaced U.S. offer pages, checked October 3, 2026, show three examples advertising 21 months—but they do not prove that 21 months was the market’s longest offer, then or now. Here are the terms those pages state and how to compare the real cost.
Three U.S. offers advertising 21 months at 0%
These are examples, not a ranking of every card on the market. Offers can change, so check the live issuer disclosure before applying. In particular, the Wells Fargo Reflect terms below come from Visa’s card-finder listing, not Wells Fargo’s own disclosure.
| Card and source | 0% balance-transfer period | Transfer fee and deadline | Other stated terms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chase Slate | 21 months from account opening; the page also lists 0% introductory APR on purchases. | A balance-transfer fee applies; its amount and qualifying-transfer deadline are not stated in the offer terms cited here. | $0 annual fee; variable APR applies after the introductory period. |
| Citi Diamond Preferred | 21 months from account opening on balance transfers. | 3% of each transfer, minimum $5, for transfers completed within the first four months. | $0 annual fee; variable APR applies after the introductory period. |
| Wells Fargo Reflect (Visa listing) | 21 months on qualifying balance transfers; the listing does not state when the period begins. | 5% of each transfer, minimum $5; transfer must be made within 120 days to qualify. | $0 annual fee; variable APR applies after the introductory period. Confirm the fee and full terms with Wells Fargo before applying. |
The cited terms do not provide exact post-promotion APR figures for these offers. Check each card’s current Rates and Fees or pricing disclosure for the applicable variable APR range and eligibility details.
Why the April 2026 ranking is not established
The offer pages cited above were surfaced on October 3, 2026; they are not dated April 2026 disclosures. They therefore cannot verify the exact offers available in April or establish which card had the longest introductory period at that time. Nor does finding several 21-month offers show that no longer offer existed. For a historical ranking, a dated issuer disclosure or archived offer from April 2026 would be needed.
#1 Best Overall
Keep geography separate when comparing results: these examples are U.S. offers. Barclays’ separate UK product page describes up to 21 months at 0% on balance transfers with a 3.45% fee and a transfer deadline, while its UK comparison page gives an offer end date of October 20, 2026. Those UK terms are not comparable U.S. card offers.
How to compare the cost, not just the months
Calculate the upfront fee
A 0% APR offer does not mean a fee-free transfer. Multiply the planned transfer by the percentage fee, then apply any minimum fee. For example, on a $5,500 transfer, the stated Citi fee would be $165 at 3%, while the fee shown in Visa’s Wells Fargo Reflect listing would be $275 at 5%. These are arithmetic examples based on the listed percentages; confirm the live terms, and remember that the Wells Fargo figure is from Visa’s listing.

Check the deadline and the promotional clock
A transfer may need to be completed within a limited period after opening the account to qualify. Missing the deadline can mean the transfer does not receive the advertised introductory APR. Also check whether the 0% period starts at account opening: Chase and Citi state that it does; the cited Wells Fargo listing does not specify the start point.
Set a payoff amount that clears the balance in time
As a simple planning estimate, divide the transferred balance plus its fee by the number of promotional months. On a $5,500 transfer, assuming the fee is added to the balance and equal payments are made, the Citi example would require about $269.76 a month over 21 months; using the 5% Wells Fargo listing, it would be $275 a month. These estimates exclude new purchases and any other charges. Build in a margin so the balance is cleared before the introductory period ends.

Compare the terms that can change the decision
- Post-intro APR: Find the current variable APR range in the issuer’s disclosure. The balance may begin accruing interest at that rate after the promotional period.
- Purchases: Do not assume a balance-transfer promotion also covers purchases. Chase’s cited offer includes an introductory purchase APR; Citi’s cited 21-month term is for balance transfers.
- Credit limit and eligibility: The limit you receive and your approval odds depend on your application and are not established by these offer pages. A limit below the amount you hope to move may prevent transferring the full balance.
- Annual fee and transfer fee: Include both in your cost comparison, along with any deadline or eligibility condition that applies to the transfer.
What to verify before submitting an application
- Open the issuer’s current offer and pricing disclosures; confirm the transfer APR, promotional duration, post-intro APR, transfer fee, deadline, and annual fee.
- Check whether the transfer period begins at account opening and whether the offer applies to the kind of balance you plan to move.
- Estimate the fee on your intended transfer amount and decide on a monthly payment that clears the balance before the offer expires.
- Review the issuer’s transfer restrictions and the credit limit offered. Do not assume you can transfer a balance from a card issued by the same bank; check the applicable terms.
