Pixel 10-series preorders are over. The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL became broadly available on August 28, 2025; the Pixel 10 Pro Fold followed on October 9, 2025. As of August 18, 2026, this is a buying guide—not a current preorder guide.
For the biggest potential carrier subsidy, start with Verizon or AT&T. For flexibility and a genuinely unlocked phone, choose Google Store or another unlocked retailer. T-Mobile can be competitive for existing customers, but its final offer depends on your account, plan, trade-in model, and inspection result.

Every carrier row requires a live eligibility check. A headline such as “free Pixel” usually means free after qualifying bill credits, not free at checkout.

Verizon’s launch announcement listed retail prices of $799.99 for Pixel 10, $999.99 for Pixel 10 Pro, $1,199.99 for Pixel 10 Pro XL, and $1,799.99 for Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Those are historical launch figures and should not be treated as current checkout prices.
How to calculate the real deal
Do not compare a carrier’s $1,000 promotional credit directly with a $1,000 cash trade-in. The carrier credit may arrive over 36 months and can stop if you cancel service, change to an ineligible plan, or pay off the device early.
Use this calculation:
Effective cost = phone price + required plan and activation costs − immediate trade-in value − promotional credits − usable gift-card or accessory value
For a carrier-financed phone, also calculate:
Real remaining obligation = monthly service premium × required months + taxes and fees + lost credits if you cancel

Compare the required plan with what you would otherwise pay—not with zero. For example, if a carrier plan costs $35 more per month than your current service and requires 36 months, that service difference is $1,260 before taxes. A “free” phone after $1,000 in credits may therefore be worse than buying an unlocked phone if you would not have chosen the more expensive plan.
Google Store: best for flexibility
Choose Google Store when you want an unlocked phone, may switch carriers, use a prepaid or MVNO service, or do not want to remain tied to monthly credits.
Google says a paid-in-full purchase can receive a refund after the old phone is reviewed. With carrier financing, the estimated trade-in value can reduce the device price, and a refundable deposit may be required until inspection. That is different from a carrier promotion, where credits generally appear on future wireless bills.

For a carrier-linked Google Store order, read the confirmation email carefully. Google’s live terms describe a separate carrier trade-in process for Verizon-linked offers, generally requiring the trade-in within 30 days. The carrier inspects the phone and then applies credits, often within one or two billing cycles after acceptance.

Returns need special care. Google lists a 30-day Verizon return window after shipment and a 14-day AT&T return window after receipt in its trade-in guidance. Returning the new phone after sending the old one can require coordination between Google and the carrier and may affect the promotion.
Verizon: potentially the strongest subsidy
Verizon is the strongest candidate for buyers who already want its Unlimited Ultimate plan and can keep the line active for the full credit period. Its launch offer advertised a free Pixel 10 Pro after qualifying trade-in, up to $1,000 off the Pixel 10 Pro XL, and up to $1,000 off the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
The offer is not an unconditional discount. It is tied to device financing, plan eligibility, and recurring credits. Verify whether the promotion is available for an upgrade, a new line, or both. Also check how an existing financed phone must be handled.

AT&T: high published Pro-series maximums
AT&T deserves a close comparison if you want the Pixel 10 Pro or Pro XL and qualify for a top trade-in tier. Best Buy’s AT&T offer page published maximums of $1,050 in bill credits for Pixel 10 Pro and $1,250 for Pixel 10 Pro XL.
Those are maximum promotional figures, not guaranteed values for every old phone. Eligibility can depend on the trade-in model, condition, storage, account, plan, location, and whether you open a new line or upgrade an existing one. Credits may take time to appear, while taxes may be calculated on the full retail price.
Buying through AT&T direct and activating through Best Buy can involve different financing, return, gift-card, and activation terms. Compare the complete checkout totals rather than relying on the headline credit.
T-Mobile: account-specific value
T-Mobile can be the best choice for an existing customer with a qualifying premium plan and a valuable trade-in, but its public Pixel 10 page does not provide one universal price for every shopper.

Enter the exact IMEI or model, state the condition accurately, and review the promotion attached to your account. T-Mobile says customers generally have 30 days to send a mailed trade-in. The final value is determined after receipt and inspection, and a trade-in transaction may not be reversible after processing.
Disable account locks, remove passwords, factory-reset the phone, and retain shipping evidence. A wrong IMEI, disabled-lock problem, materially different condition, or late shipment can reduce or eliminate the expected value. Yearly Upgrade and JUMP-style programs are separate from ordinary trade-in promotions.

Best Buy is worth checking when its gift card or activation incentive makes up for a weaker direct trade-in quote. It may offer unlocked models alongside AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile activation paths.

Confirm whether the incentive is available for the exact storage tier, whether it arrives immediately or after shipment or activation, and whether returning the phone reverses it.
Best Buy’s Pixel inventory and offer listings are dynamic. Check the exact checkout configuration on the day you buy.
Best choice by buyer situation
- You already use Verizon: Compare the remaining cost of Unlimited Ultimate with your current plan, then verify the exact trade-in tier and credit schedule.
- You already use AT&T: Check whether your account qualifies for the published Pro or Pro XL maximum before considering a new line.
- You already use T-Mobile: Get the account-specific quote and treat it as provisional until inspection.
- You want an unlocked phone: Start with Google Store and compare its trade-in refund with the cash value of selling or trading the old phone elsewhere.
- You may switch carriers within a year: Prefer an unlocked purchase. A carrier’s remaining credits can disappear when you leave.
- Your phone is cracked: Check promotions that accept damaged devices, but do not assume “any condition” equals the highest credit.
- Your old phone is still financed: The existing balance generally remains your responsibility. Calculate it separately from the new promotion.
- You want the Pro XL: Compare AT&T’s published maximum with Verizon’s $1,000-off launch offer, then include plan cost and the credit term.
How to protect your trade-in value
- Get at least three quotes for the exact model, storage tier, and condition.
- Record the quoted value, promotion name, deadline, and required plan.
- Photograph the phone, IMEI, screen, body, and power-on condition.
- Back up your data and transfer it to the new phone.
- Remove Google, Apple, and other account locks; then factory-reset the device.
- Use the supplied shipping materials or obtain a receipt and tracking number.
- Ship before the deadline. T-Mobile’s cited process generally allows 30 days for a mailed trade-in; other offers can differ.
- Monitor the carrier account for the expected credit and challenge discrepancies promptly.
Keep the old phone until the new device works, unless the promotion’s deadline makes that impossible. Never send a phone with an activation lock enabled.
Fine print that changes the answer
- Taxes and fees: A “free” phone may still generate sales tax on full retail value, an activation fee, a down payment, and monthly service charges.
- Credit timing: Credits can take one or more billing cycles to begin.
- Cancellation: Leaving early can make the unpaid device balance immediately important and can end remaining credits.
- Early payoff: Paying off the device may stop or alter promotional credits.
- Condition reassessment: A carrier can reduce the value after inspection if the device differs from the submitted description.
- Storage and IMEI: The wrong storage tier or IMEI can invalidate the quote.
- Stock: Colors, storage capacities, unlocked SKUs, and carrier versions can sell out independently.
- Returns: Returning the new phone after submitting the old one can require separate retailer and carrier reversals.
Bottom line
There is no current Pixel 10 preorder deal to recommend in August 2026. For a live purchase, Verizon and AT&T offer the best potential carrier subsidies, but only when their required plans and 36-month-style credit obligations fit your situation. T-Mobile is worth checking for existing eligible customers. Google Store is the safer choice for an unlocked phone and long-term flexibility, even if its immediate trade-in value is lower. Compare the total service commitment—not just the advertised trade-in number—before ordering.
