What was included for $529?

The computer measures approximately 5 by 5 inches, making it a particularly compact macOS desktop. The offer was not for every M4 Mac mini: higher-storage configurations and the more powerful M4 Pro models were separate products.

The important catch: it was only the computer
The $529 price did not include a monitor, keyboard, mouse, or trackpad. You also need a power connection and may need a compatible display cable or adapter. A first-time desktop buyer should budget for those items separately; the final cost of a usable setup can be substantially higher than $529.
You may also want an external SSD, USB hub, webcam, speakers, or Ethernet accessories. Check the live listing carefully for the exact ports, seller, warranty, shipping cost, return terms, and whether the product is new rather than open-box or refurbished.
Is 256GB enough?
For web browsing, office work, school, programming, streaming, and ordinary photo use, 256GB can be workable—especially when files are stored in the cloud or on external storage. However, it is a restrictive capacity for large photo and video libraries, games, Adobe project caches, Xcode toolchains, virtual machines, or extensive local media.

An external SSD is often a cheaper way to add capacity, but it adds a cable and another device to your desk. If you want a cleaner setup or routinely keep large files locally, a higher-capacity Mac mini may be the better purchase. Memory and internal storage are not intended to be user-upgraded later, so choose the configuration based on your expected workload.

Who would have benefited from the deal?
- Existing Mac or PC owners: especially those who already have a suitable monitor, keyboard, mouse, and cables.
- Students and home-office users: the M4 and 16GB memory provide a strong mainstream desktop foundation.
- Developers: a compact macOS system is useful for programming, provided 256GB is enough or external storage is available.
- Compact-desktop shoppers: the Mac mini offers macOS without requiring a built-in screen or laptop-style design.
Who should skip the base model?
- People who need portability: the Mac mini requires a power outlet and separate display and input devices. A MacBook Air is more practical for travel and multi-location work.
- Storage-heavy professionals: large 4K or 8K projects and extensive local libraries may justify more internal storage or a higher-end system.
- Users expecting upgradeability: memory and internal storage should be selected at purchase.
- Serious gaming buyers: the Mac mini is not the best choice if broad native AAA game support is a priority.
- Demanding professional users: sustained heavy compilation, advanced video work, or other intensive workloads may be better suited to an M4 Pro Mac mini or Mac Studio.

Verdict on the historical offer

The $70 reduction was real, but it did not turn the Mac mini into a complete $529 workstation. Its two biggest compromises were the 256GB SSD and the extra cost of building a usable desktop setup.
Because the promotion ran on November 29, 2024 and is now marked expired, do not assume the price is still available. Check B&H’s current Mac mini listings and compare the exact configuration before buying.
