Uber is bringing food delivery and other Eats-related services closer to its main app, but it has not announced that the separate Uber Eats app is shutting down. The change is part of Uber’s broader “one app for everything” strategy: a more connected place to find rides, food, groceries, shopping and travel services. For now, it is more accurate to call this deeper app integration than a complete technical, operational or corporate merger.
What Uber announced
On April 29, 2026, Uber introduced its GO–GET strategy under the banner “One app for everything.” The company described an expanded Uber app spanning rides, food and grocery delivery, shopping, hotel bookings, travel recommendations and restaurant reservations. Uber also said it is developing a unified search experience that can connect a request to the relevant service. Uber’s GO–GET announcement presents Eats integration as one part of that wider expansion, not as a standalone redesign of the delivery app.
Some announced features are market-dependent or rolling out over time. The announcement does not establish that every Uber customer can access every service, or that all features are available nationwide. Hotel bookings and Travel Mode, for example, are part of the broader travel push; their inclusion does not mean they are available in every city or account.
What integration means for customers
The practical direction is to make more delivery and shopping options discoverable from the Uber app and connect them more closely to rides and the customer’s Uber account. Depending on location and rollout, that may mean delivery or grocery choices alongside ride services, a search that spans more than one category, or recommendations tied to a trip. Uber’s broader plans also include “Shop for Me,” a way to request items from stores that may not already appear in the app.

These are examples of connected services, not proof that every user sees the same interface or can place every type of order from a single screen.

Uber has not published a universal menu path that can safely be assumed across U.S. accounts. Entry points can differ by country, city, app version, account and rollout stage. If you do not see a delivery or shopping option in the Uber app, try Uber Eats directly; the feature may not be available to your account, or the service may not operate in your area.
Does the Uber Eats app still exist?
Uber’s help documentation continues to refer to both the Uber app and the Uber Eats app, including for managing Uber One membership. That supports a clear distinction: Eats is being made more connected to the main Uber experience, but the available first-party information does not establish that Uber Eats has been discontinued or that every order must now be placed through Uber. Uber’s help page on Uber One changes discusses the two apps as separate places to manage membership.

Use the main Uber app if you want to combine ride planning with delivery or shopping, or prefer one app for several Uber services. Uber Eats remains a sensible choice if you primarily order food, want a delivery-focused browsing experience, need an Eats-specific support or order-history flow, or cannot find the service you need in Uber.

Why Uber is bringing the services closer
The commercial logic is cross-selling and more frequent use: Uber can introduce delivery to people who open its app for rides, and rides to people who primarily order delivery. In Uber’s Q2 2025 supplemental data, the company said 30% of eligible Mobility riders had never tried Delivery, while 12% of Delivery Gross Bookings were generated through the Uber app. Those are historical company figures from 2025, not current 2026 usage rates. A shared account and loyalty relationship can also give customers more reasons to return and make a paid membership relevant across more occasions. Uber has described ride and Eats cross-promotion and shared workflows for years; the 2026 plan expands that direction rather than starting it from scratch. Uber’s 2022 Investor Day transcript
Uber reported that Uber One had reached 50 million members in Q1 2026 and that members generated half of the company’s Gross Bookings across Mobility and Delivery. These are company-reported figures, and Gross Bookings is Uber’s measure; they help explain why a connected membership matters to the strategy, but do not show that every member saves money. What Uber One members should check
Uber One links eligible benefits across Uber rides and Uber Eats orders, but there is no single benefit package that applies to every member everywhere. The applicable terms can depend on country, plan, ride type, merchant participation, order minimums and whether you are traveling. Uber’s help materials describe changes taking effect on different dates in 2026, including March 9 and July 13 updates; check the terms shown for your own account rather than assuming one date or benefit applies to everyone. A $0 Delivery Fee benefit does not mean every charge disappears. Depending on the order, delivery-related benefits may not cover service fees, small-order fees, priority charges, taxes, tips or differences in merchant prices. Before placing an order, review the final checkout breakdown and confirm which benefits or credits have actually been applied.

To judge whether membership is worthwhile, compare its current price on your signup screen with the fees or ride credits you realistically expect to use on eligible transactions. Occasional orders, ineligible merchants or baskets below applicable minimums can make it harder to offset the cost. Uber says some benefits can apply while traveling in participating Uber One countries, but availability and terms can vary across borders. Restaurants and other merchants
Showing delivery options to more people who use Uber for rides may give merchants another route to discovery, but it does not guarantee more orders or better economics. Uber’s 2026 U.S. Algorithmic Transparency Report describes Eats merchant tools including storefronts, menus, order management, customer insights, promotions and point-of-sale integrations. Separately, Uber and Block announced expanded restaurant-operations integration involving Square and the introduction of Cash App Pay as a U.S. payment option. The app integration alone says nothing definitive about restaurant commission rates, advertising costs or delivery fees. Merchants evaluating a platform still need to assess local demand, coverage, software compatibility, support and the full terms of doing business.

A more connected marketplace could direct more customer demand through Uber, but it does not automatically mean every rideshare driver will receive delivery requests or every courier will be offered passenger trips. Whether someone can work across services depends on local rules, vehicle and insurance requirements, account eligibility, opt-in status and marketplace demand. The consumer-facing changes also do not, by themselves, establish changes to pay, acceptance rules or worker classification.

Common points of confusion
- A feature is missing: It may not have rolled out to your account or location, or the service may not be offered locally. Try Uber Eats directly for delivery.
- A benefit does not appear at checkout: Check the order minimum, merchant eligibility, location and benefit terms. Do not rely on a membership label alone.
- You are sent to another app: That does not mean your account or order has failed; the two app experiences continue to be referenced separately by Uber.
- You are traveling: Service availability and Uber One benefits can differ by country. Confirm the terms and options shown for the destination.
- You need help with an order or ride: Identify which service the issue concerns and use its relevant support flow; a delivery problem and a ride problem may not share the same process.
