What was rebranded?
Total Wireless was marketed as Total by Verizon before Verizon’s July 11, 2024 refresh presented it as “Total Wireless, formerly Total by Verizon.” Verizon’s May 2026 announcement introduced another refresh: four unlimited plan tiers launched May 13, 2026. This is a brand and plan refresh within Verizon’s prepaid portfolio, not evidence of a new carrier or a separate network. Verizon’s 2024 announcement and its 2026 announcement describe the changes.

Current plans and advertised prices
The following one-line prices are advertised with Auto Pay and were displayed August 18, 2026. They are current price signals, not permanent rates for every account. Hotspot and network features differ by tier. Total Wireless’ plan comparison lists the tiers and features.

The displayed STARTER examples were $75 for two lines, $85 for three and $95 for four; MAX and ALL ACCESS prices vary by line count. Check the live account quote before switching or adding a line. What the five-year guarantee actually protects
Total Wireless describes the offer as protection for the eligible plan’s then-current base monthly price for five years. Its published plan pricing says taxes and fees are included, so ordinary taxes and carrier fees should not be added on top of the advertised plan price. The guarantee is therefore meaningful protection against an ordinary increase to that eligible base rate, provided the subscriber continues to meet the offer’s conditions. It does not mean the entire bill is frozen. Total Wireless’ plan terms and pricing and its public offer page describe the guarantee.
What can still change the amount due
- Auto Pay: The advertised rates above are presented with Auto Pay, but Total Wireless says discounts such as Auto Pay are excluded from the guarantee. The published language does not establish that the discount itself is locked for five years.
- Promotions and credits: Promotional pricing, credits and other discounts can have separate conditions or end dates; they are not protected just because the base rate has a guarantee.
- Optional and equipment charges: Add-ons, features, phone purchases or financing, insurance and other equipment charges can raise the bill.
- One-time or transactional charges: Activation and other one-time charges may apply even though taxes and fees are included in the advertised plan rate.
For example, a qualifying customer on the $25 MAX 5G BYO offer should not incur ordinary taxes and carrier fees on top of the advertised plan rate. But a lost Auto Pay discount, a paid add-on, a phone installment or an activation charge could make the total due higher. Total Wireless lists these exclusions on its plan-upgrade and guarantee page.

Who qualifies for the offer?
The published eligibility language is directed to new Total Wireless subscribers. It may exclude someone who activated Total Wireless or Total by Verizon within the previous 90 days. Do not assume that a recently departed customer qualifies simply by signing up again. The offer terms provide the 90-day lookback; confirm your eligibility before porting a number or paying for a plan.

What if you already have Total by Verizon or Total Wireless?
Existing customers should not assume that keeping an old plan or moving to a refreshed one automatically enrolls the account in the public five-year guarantee. A current customer may have legacy pricing or separate migration terms, but the public offer is primarily written for qualifying new subscribers. Total Wireless also warns that a move from a retired plan may be irreversible and could affect existing promotions. Ask support to confirm your account-specific price and guarantee status in writing before changing plans. Is the $25 MAX 5G BYO plan really $25 for five years?
It is the advertised one-line Auto Pay price for Total MAX 5G BYO, not an unconditional promise that every account will pay exactly $25 in every billing situation. The plan is for customers bringing a compatible, unlocked phone and requires the appropriate SIM or eSIM setup. Verify the device before signup using Total Wireless’ BYOD information.
There is also a distinction between the advertised Auto Pay price and the guaranteed base rate: the plan is marketed at $25 with Auto Pay, while Total Wireless’ guarantee exclusions say Auto Pay discounts are not protected. Save the checkout breakdown showing the base rate and discount separately; do not treat a temporary promotion or discount as part of the five-year lock.

Coverage and performance still matter
Total Wireless uses Verizon’s network, but access to that network does not establish identical service priority to Verizon postpaid. Total Wireless warns that customers may notice reduced speeds compared with postpaid users during congestion. 5G requires a compatible device and local coverage; Ultra Wideband access is specified for the higher tiers in the table. Hotspot allowances and speed caps vary by plan, and “unlimited” data does not mean unlimited high-speed hotspot use. Video and international features also have plan-specific limits, country restrictions and U.S. primary-use requirements. Review the current plan details for your intended locations and usage.
How to protect yourself before switching
- Check eligibility: Confirm whether you used Total Wireless or Total by Verizon during the preceding 90 days, and ask whether the offer applies to your account.
- Check the device: For MAX 5G BYO, confirm that your phone is compatible and unlocked, and verify the required SIM or eSIM arrangement at the BYOD page.
- Inspect the checkout total: Record the plan’s base price, Auto Pay discount, promotional credits, add-ons and any one-time or equipment charges as separate line items.
- Save the terms: Screenshot the checkout page and keep the confirmation email, including the plan name and price breakdown.
- Avoid casual plan changes: Before changing tiers, ask whether the move affects the guarantee, discounts or ability to return to a retired plan.
- Prevent a service interruption: Keep payment or renewal current. The published terms warn that a lapse, suspension or termination can affect the guarantee.
When the guarantee is worth considering
The guarantee is most useful to someone who has strong Verizon coverage at home, work and travel destinations, wants prepaid service without a long-term contract, and expects to stay on the same eligible plan. It offers predictability on the base rate, not a promise of savings: a customer who changes plans, loses a discount or leaves because of poor coverage may not benefit from the full five-year period.

- Consider it if you already own a suitable unlocked phone, want predictable prepaid pricing and can maintain uninterrupted service.
- Compare tiers carefully if hotspot speed or allowance is important; the BYO plan’s lower rate comes with device requirements, while hotspot limits differ across all four plans.
- Be cautious if you are an existing customer on a legacy plan, rely on expiring promotions, need postpaid-level support, or expect to change plans often.
