Check the live offer and final price at Udemy before paying. Do not assume that every course qualifies or that the historical prices still apply.

What the Udemy deal reportedly offered
The original promotion targeted new Udemy customers and applied to selected courses rather than the entire Udemy catalog. Engadget described the maximum saving as “up to 80 percent,” reported prices starting at $15, and said eligible customers had 15 hours to complete checkout. The offer was also described as subject to change without notice.

“Up to 80% off” did not mean every course was 80% cheaper
The headline described a maximum discount, not a universal reduction. The article listed these historical examples:

The stated reference prices and the advertised maximum percentage do not align perfectly in every example. A comparison price in a deal article is not necessarily the price every customer normally sees, because Udemy prices can vary by market, currency, account and promotion.
Featured courses from the 2025 report
AI and digital marketing
Engadget reported that the AI-focused digital-marketing course cost $23 at the time, versus a listed $85 price. Its reported snapshot included a 4.4-star rating, more than 45,000 students, about 8.5 hours of on-demand video and 137 lectures. The course covered using generative-AI tools for marketing, content and email work.
Those ratings, enrollment figures, lecture counts and runtime may have changed. AI tools also change quickly, so check the current update date, curriculum and screenshots before buying. A course built around a particular version of ChatGPT, Gemini or Midjourney can become partly outdated even when its general marketing concepts remain useful.

AWS and cloud computing
The AWS beginner course was listed at $20 rather than $110 in the historical article. Its reported snapshot included a 4.6-star rating, more than 200,000 students, approximately 9.5 hours of video, 12 sections and 97 lectures. It was presented as suitable for beginners without prior experience.
The “[2025]” title is a warning to verify the live listing. By 2026, the course may have been updated, renamed or superseded. Also determine whether it teaches general cloud concepts, AWS-console navigation, certification preparation or hands-on infrastructure. These are different learning outcomes.
If a course asks you to create AWS resources, check the current pricing and free-tier rules first. A course discount does not cover unexpected cloud-usage charges.

The communications course was reported at $20 instead of $90, with a 4.6-star rating, more than 37,000 students, about three hours of video, two articles and one downloadable resource. Its subjects included public speaking, emotional intelligence, handshakes and social communication.

Its inclusion shows that the promotion was broader than technology alone. For communication courses, look for exercises, demonstrations and opportunities to practice—not just a high average rating.
How to check whether the deal works
The original instructions were to open the promotional link, sign up as a new customer, select an eligible course and complete checkout within 15 hours. The report did not establish whether the link automatically applied a coupon, opened a promotional storefront or created a personalized offer.

- Open the offer from Udemy’s official domain.
- Confirm the promotion’s expiration date, country, currency and eligibility rules.
- Sign in or create an account only if you accept the applicable terms.
- Select a course that is visibly included in the offer.
- Check that the sale price appears in the cart.
- Review the final order total, including currency conversion and taxes, before payment.
Do not complete the purchase if the expected discount is missing. Common explanations include an expired campaign, an account that is not recognized as new, an excluded course, regional restrictions or a price that changed during the promotion.

Who counts as a first-time Udemy customer?
The historical report used the phrase “first-time Udemy customers,” but it did not define every condition. It did not establish whether eligibility required never having created an account, never having purchased a course, or never having redeemed a free course. It also did not confirm whether a new email address, different device, referral link or separate country would qualify an existing user.
Do not try to bypass restrictions with duplicate accounts. Instead, read the current promotion terms or contact Udemy support. The historical report also does not show whether the offer applied to Udemy Business customers, so an individual-course promotion should not be confused with business access.

A large percentage discount is not evidence of quality. Before buying, review:
- Update date: especially important for AI, cloud, software and certification courses.
- Syllabus: confirm that it covers the exact skill you need.
- Projects and exercises: practical work is usually more useful than passive video.
- Reviews: consider review volume and recent comments, not only the average star rating.
- Instructor fit: preview lectures to assess clarity and pace.
- Level: make sure “beginner” or “advanced” matches your experience.
- Outcome: distinguish an introduction from certification preparation or production-ready training.
A beginner AWS course can provide orientation without preparing you to design secure production systems or pass a certification exam. Similarly, an AI course can explain workflows without guaranteeing current instructions for every tool.

A one-off Udemy purchase may suit someone who needs one narrowly defined course. Learners planning to take many courses may prefer a subscription platform such as Coursera, LinkedIn Learning or Pluralsight. Official documentation is often more current, while an instructor-led course may be easier for a beginner to follow.
Bottom line
The “up to 80% off” Udemy promotion was a real, dated deal report—not proof of a live September 2026 offer. Treat the $15 starting price, $20 and $23 examples, first-time-customer restriction and 15-hour deadline as historical. If Udemy currently presents a similar promotion, verify the course’s eligibility and the complete discounted total at checkout before paying.
