The deal covered two different kinds of savings: an education discount and a conditional trade-in credit. Treating “up to $500 off” as an automatic markdown, then applying another guaranteed 20%, would overstate the offer.

“Up to” describes a ceiling, not a guaranteed reduction. The maximum could require a qualifying trade-in, a particular configuration, an eligible account and successful inspection of the returned device. Samsung could also limit inventory, payment methods, coupons or other promotions.

Galaxy Book5 Pro 360: the premium option
The U.S. configuration discussed in the 2025 coverage was a 16-inch 2-in-1 with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, integrated Intel Arc graphics, a 2,880×1,800 AMOLED display rated at 400 nits, Windows 11, and 16GB of memory with a 1TB SSD. Samsung’s current product page shows 16GB/1TB and 32GB/1TB configurations; exact processor variants can differ by SKU: Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360.

The 360-degree hinge and pen support make it the stronger choice for handwritten notes, tablet mode, photo work and buyers who value a high-end display. Intel also provides more predictable compatibility with traditional Windows applications than an ARM laptop. However, Intel Arc is integrated graphics, not a substitute for a dedicated NVIDIA or AMD GPU; serious 3D rendering and modern AAA gaming call for different hardware.
Illustrative Book5 Pro 360 calculation
Using the $1,999.99 32GB/1TB MSRP only as an example, a $500 qualifying trade-in would produce a theoretical $1,499.99 effective cost. A 15% education reduction applied to that MSRP would be $1,699.99 before tax. Those figures are illustrations, not a confirmed historical checkout total, because the evidence does not establish that every configuration accepted both benefits or how Samsung would order the calculations.

Galaxy Book4 Edge 15: the cheaper, lighter choice
The product was officially called the Galaxy Book4 Edge 15, not “Galaxy Book5 Edge 15” or “Book Edge 15.” The 2025 configuration was described at approximately $799 with a Snapdragon X Plus processor, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. The available MSRP excerpt identifies a 15.6-inch Galaxy Book4 Edge but does not expose a reliably matching U.S. retail MSRP, so the $799 figure should be treated as a promotional price signal rather than a permanent list price.
Its Snapdragon platform and thin chassis can suit web apps, Office, streaming and general schoolwork. Windows on ARM, however, requires more compatibility checking. Confirm support for specialized engineering, scientific or accounting software, older utilities, VPN clients, peripherals, printer and scanner drivers, university lab tools and games that use anti-cheat systems.
Illustrative Edge 15 calculation
Ten percent of an approximately $799 promotional price is about $79.90. A qualifying trade-in could add as much as $400 in credit, but the price was not automatically $319.10. Samsung’s valuation, inspection, the status of the $799 price and the stacking rules would determine the actual total.
How to claim a Samsung education price
- Open Samsung’s education program page: Samsung Education Offers.
- Sign in or create a Samsung account.
- Enter a valid school-related email address or complete the alternate verification process Samsung presents.
- Open the education-store product listing and select the exact laptop SKU.
- Add the laptop and any trade-in device to the cart.
- Before paying, verify that the education reduction, trade-in estimate and any direct promotion appear in the order summary.
Eligibility labels and verification methods can change. If a school address is rejected, check spam folders, sign out and back in, try the education-store page rather than the public product page, or contact Samsung support before ordering.

How to calculate the real final price
Use this framework rather than adding headline percentages:
Final price = promotional laptop price − applicable education discount − verified trade-in credit − eligible coupon or instant rebate + tax and required fees.
- Direct discount: an immediate reduction in the listed laptop price.
- Education discount: a percentage available after eligibility verification.
- Trade-in credit: a conditional value that can change after Samsung receives and inspects the old device.
- Financing: a payment method, not a discount by itself.
Trade-in value may fall because of cracks, power or battery problems, activation locks, missing required accessories, an ineligible model or a missed return deadline. Keep the shipment receipt and photograph the device before sending it.

The available evidence does not prove universal stacking of the education discount, a direct sale markdown, trade-in credit, coupons and financing promotions. The offers may have appeared together for some carts, but the exact configuration, account, trade-in device, inventory and promotion terms controlled the result. Only Samsung’s terms and the final checkout summary can confirm a combined price.

Samsung’s current offer pages are separate from the 2025 event. As of August 18, 2026, the education page had moved to newer Galaxy Book6 products while showing a different Book5 Pro 360 offer, and the featured-offers page showed the older Edge 15 with different savings: education offers and featured offers.

For a broader Windows comparison, alternatives include Lenovo’s Yoga range (Lenovo), Microsoft Surface (Microsoft), Dell’s XPS and Inspiron 2-in-1 lines (Dell) and HP’s premium convertibles (HP). They may offer better seasonal pricing, but none provides Samsung’s specific Galaxy-device integration.
Deal status
The June 2025 Samsung promotion has ended. Do not treat the $500 ceiling, 15% rate or 10% rate as a live 2026 offer. If Samsung or a retailer advertises a new price, check the exact SKU, expiration date, eligibility rules, trade-in inspection terms and cart total before relying on the claimed savings.
