Its original appeal was a 120Hz AMOLED screen, 5G, a large battery and useful extras at a budget price. It remains worth considering if you find the 8GB/256GB model well below its launch price and want those features more than camera versatility, water protection or a clearly documented long update commitment.

Which specifications matter most?
| Component | Specification | Buying significance |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | MediaTek Dimensity 7025-Ultra, 6nm, up to 2.5GHz | Designed for everyday use and moderate gaming, not a premium gaming experience. |
| Screen | 6.67-inch AMOLED, 2400 × 1080, up to 120Hz, 394ppi | A strong feature at this price, with sharp text and fluid supported content. |
| Memory and storage | Global specifications list 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB; UFS 2.2 storage | Check local stock. UFS 2.2 is a budget-conscious standard rather than especially fast storage. |
| Rear cameras | 50MP main camera with OIS and f/1.5 lens; 2MP depth sensor | The main camera has stabilization; the second sensor does not add an ultra-wide or telephoto view. |
| Front camera and video | 20MP front camera; rear video up to 1080p/30fps | Video resolution is limited compared with phones offering 4K recording. |
| Battery and charging | 5,110mAh typical capacity; 45W charging | Capacity is generous on paper; actual endurance depends on usage and network conditions. |
| Protection | IP64 | Dust protection and splash resistance, not immersion protection. |
| Connections and extras | 5G, NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi‑Fi 5, stereo speakers, 3.5mm jack, IR blaster, hybrid SIM/microSD slot | Useful features, but NFC functionality and network compatibility depend on market, model and carrier. |
| Software at launch | Xiaomi HyperOS 1.0, based on Android 14 according to launch materials | This describes launch software, not the version currently installed on a particular handset. |
POCO’s global specifications list the hardware; check the country-specific listing before purchase because configurations and package contents can vary.
Is the display the M7 Pro’s best reason to buy?
Probably. The 6.67-inch AMOLED panel combines Full HD+ resolution with a refresh rate up to 120Hz. At 394 pixels per inch, it should look crisp at ordinary viewing distances, while the high refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations feel smoother than on a basic 60Hz screen. The experience is more likely to stand out day to day than a small difference in benchmark scores.
POCO lists 2,100 nits peak brightness and 1,200 nits HBM. These are manufacturer brightness specifications, not a promise of sustained brightness across the entire screen in every outdoor condition. POCO also promotes Gorilla Glass 5 and eye-care features including PWM dimming and TÜV certifications. Those claims do not make the handset rugged or establish that the display will be comfortable for every user. The refresh rate may also vary with settings and app support.
How fast is it, and is it good for gaming?
The Dimensity 7025-Ultra is a sensible everyday chip for messaging, web browsing, video streaming, navigation and social apps. Moderate gaming is a reasonable expectation, but the specifications alone do not establish sustained frame rates or performance at high graphics settings. POCO’s listed IMG BXM-8-256 GPU is a component specification, not an independent gaming test.
Storage is another compromise: UFS 2.2 may feel slower than UFS 3.x in some installations, loading and file transfers. POCO advertises up to 24GB of memory when extended memory is included, but that total counts storage-backed virtual memory alongside physical RAM. It is not equivalent to having 24GB of physical RAM. See the POCO product page for the manufacturer’s memory description.
Are the cameras good enough?
The 50MP main camera is the promising part of the system: it has optical image stabilization (OIS), a wide f/1.5 aperture and a sensor POCO markets as Sony-made. OIS can help reduce blur from small hand movements, especially in dimmer scenes, but it cannot guarantee sharp moving subjects or substitute for a telephoto lens. The megapixel count alone does not establish image quality.
The larger issue is versatility. There is no genuine ultra-wide camera, and the 2MP depth sensor is not a substitute for one. Rear video tops out at 1080p/30fps in the official specifications. The front camera is listed at 20MP, but that figure is not a reliable measure of selfie quality. A review based on sample images would need to assess daylight detail and color, indoor and night noise, motion handling, portrait edges, HDR rendering, shutter delay and app lag before declaring the cameras strong overall.
In short, the main camera is promising for the price, but this is not a versatile multi-camera phone.
What should you expect from battery life and charging?
The 5,110mAh typical-capacity battery and 45W charging rating give the phone a solid hardware starting point. They do not establish a particular number of hours or days between charges: light use, mixed 5G use, gaming, video playback and bright outdoor viewing can produce very different results.
POCO says the phone can charge beyond 60% in 30 minutes. That is a manufacturer claim; charger, temperature, software and testing conditions affect real charging speed. The global specification lists an adapter in the box, but package contents may differ by country. Verify the local listing rather than budgeting on an assumption. The same caution applies to manufacturer battery-health and cycle-life claims: they are not independent endurance tests.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What software support will it receive?
Launch materials identify HyperOS 1.0 based on Android 14. That is a launch baseline, not a reliable description of the software on a device bought in 2026. Check the handset’s installed Android and HyperOS versions and security-patch date before purchase, particularly for old stock.
A definitive number of Android upgrades or years of security support for the exact European model is not established by the available official regional information. Third-party statements about update commitments conflict, so do not rely on an unverified figure when estimating how long the phone will remain secure and useful. Buyers who prioritize long-term support should request the policy for the exact UK or EU model from POCO or the seller before paying.
Also consider your tolerance for the manufacturer’s software and preinstalled apps. The available specifications do not establish the amount of bloatware, advertising or notification clutter on a current regional build; inspect the installed software or a review of that exact version if these issues matter to you.
How durable and convenient is it in daily use?
IP64 means the enclosure is dust-tight and protected against water splashes from any direction under the rating’s test conditions. It does not mean waterproof: do not treat it as suitable for immersion, swimming, powerful water jets or sustained heavy rain. POCO’s “flagship-level” resistance wording should not be mistaken for a premium water-protection rating; TechRadar has challenged the use of flagship language for budget-phone features.
The practical extras are a more convincing part of the proposition: stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IR blaster, an in-screen fingerprint sensor and a hybrid SIM/microSD tray. Using a microSD card may mean giving up the second SIM slot. The phone is listed at about 190g and 8mm thick. A virtual proximity sensor is another point to consider; hands-on testing is needed to establish how reliably the screen turns off during calls.

Will a European or imported version work for you?
Do not assume every M7 Pro 5G listing is the same phone. A global specification page lists European 4G and 5G bands and NFC, but band support alone cannot guarantee service on a particular carrier. POCO also notes that 5G access depends on region and operator support, and its UK page cautions that NFC functions may vary by market.
- Confirm the exact model and supported bands against your country and carrier; ask about VoLTE and Wi‑Fi calling if you rely on them.
- Check NFC and whether it supports the contactless payment service you use.
- Verify dual-SIM behavior, microSD trade-offs, charger contents and local warranty coverage.
- Ask whether the handset is the European/UK version or an import, and confirm its software and update treatment.
- Do not assume eSIM availability; confirm it for the exact regional model before buying.
These checks matter most when a marketplace listing is substantially cheaper than an authorized local seller. A low headline price may not compensate for uncertain warranty service or a version that lacks the connectivity and payment functions you expect.
Which configuration is the sensible choice?
- 8GB/256GB: The likely value sweet spot if locally available at a price close to its original European positioning. It provides a useful storage allowance without paying for memory you may not use.
- 12GB/256GB: Consider it only if the price difference is small and you regularly keep many demanding apps open. More physical RAM does not eliminate the phone’s storage-speed limitation.
- 12GB/512GB: Makes sense for large game libraries, offline video or long ownership without cloud storage. Otherwise, a large premium may be better spent on a newer model.
Choose based on physical memory and storage you will use, not the “up to 24GB” extended-memory headline.
When is it a good buy—and when should you choose something else?
It suits buyers who
- Prioritize a bright, high-refresh AMOLED screen, 5G and everyday performance at a restrained price.
- Value a headphone jack, stereo speakers, IR blaster or microSD support.
- Mostly take casual photos with the main camera and do not need an ultra-wide view or 4K rear video.
- Can buy from a reputable seller with local warranty at a substantial discount from newer alternatives.
Look elsewhere if you
- Need IP67/IP68-class protection, an ultra-wide camera, high-resolution video, eSIM or Wi‑Fi 6.
- Want verified long-term software support, high-settings gaming or premium storage performance.
- Would be paying a price close to a newer phone with a faster processor or a clearer support commitment.
- Are considering an import without confirmed network bands, NFC, charger contents and warranty.
Compare a current Redmi Note 5G model, a newer POCO M- or X-series phone, and Samsung Galaxy A- or Motorola Moto G-series alternatives at the prices actually available in your country. Those are comparison paths, not claims that one is currently cheaper or better. If camera quality or water protection matters more than buying new, a reputable refurbished higher-tier handset may also merit comparison.
