Mark Zuckerberg Net Worth: Latest Verified 2026 Estimate

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Forbes estimated Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth at $203.7 billion on July 28, 2026, when it ranked him sixth among the world’s richest people. Bloomberg’s earlier estimate was $215 billion on May 5, 2026. Neither figure is a permanent or exact total: most of Zuckerberg’s estimated wealth is tied to Meta stock, whose price moves from day to day.

Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth in 2026

The latest dated estimate located for this article is Forbes’ $203.7 billion snapshot from July 28, 2026. Forbes ranked Zuckerberg No. 6 globally at that snapshot. Bloomberg reported $215 billion on May 5, 2026, an earlier estimate. These are estimates from different dates and services, not two measurements taken at the same moment. They should not be averaged into a third figure.

Because the latest verified figure here is dated July 28, it should not be described as Zuckerberg’s exact net worth on a later date. A live billionaire tracker may show a different amount as Meta’s share price and the index’s other assumptions change.

How Zuckerberg built his fortune

Zuckerberg’s wealth is primarily an ownership story, not a salary story. He co-founded Facebook, which became a public company in 2012; Meta’s proxy materials identify the IPO date as May 17, 2012. He remains Meta’s co-founder and chief executive, and his fortune is largely the value attributed to his stake in the company that now owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and other businesses.

A simplified way to understand the main driver is: shares attributed to Zuckerberg × Meta’s share price. The estimate also depends on other assets and adjustments, so this is not a complete net-worth calculation. Bloomberg describes Meta as his largest asset and says the majority of his fortune comes from his roughly 13% stake.

How much of Meta does he own?

About 13% is the commonly cited estimate of Zuckerberg’s economic ownership of Meta stock. That is different from his voting power: Meta’s 2025 proxy statement reported that he beneficially owned 342,606,985 Class B shares and 141,000 Class A shares, representing about 61% of total voting power under the filing’s calculation. The filing explains that beneficial ownership includes shares held through trusts and related entities; it does not mean he owns 61% of Meta’s economic value.

Meta’s Class B shares carry greater voting power than Class A shares. That dual-class structure helps explain how Zuckerberg can have voting control well above his approximate economic stake. The share counts above are from the company’s 2025 proxy filed with the SEC, rather than a real-time count.

Is his net worth mostly cash?

No. The estimate is mostly the marked value of his Meta equity, not a statement of how much money he has sitting in a bank account. Selling a large holding would not necessarily produce cash equal to the quoted value: a sale could affect the market price, involve taxes, and be subject to market and legal constraints. Net worth means estimated assets minus liabilities; it is not the same as salary, annual income, or immediately spendable cash.

Nor should the assets of every Chan Zuckerberg Initiative-affiliated organization be added to Zuckerberg’s personal wealth. Meta’s 2026 proxy materials describe holdings through the Mark Zuckerberg Trust and CZI-related entities, illustrating why ownership structures matter. Affiliation alone does not establish that an organization’s assets are his personal property.

Why Forbes and Bloomberg publish different estimates

The first difference is timing: Forbes’ $203.7 billion figure is dated July 28, 2026, while Bloomberg’s $215 billion figure is dated May 5. Meta’s share price and broader markets can move materially between snapshots. The services also make their own judgments about assets and liabilities, so their estimates need not match even on the same date.

Bloomberg says its index values public-company stakes using the latest closing prices, converts values to U.S. dollars using current exchange rates, and updates after the New York market close each business day. Its methodology models items including cash, investments, taxes, property purchases, philanthropy and market performance. Bloomberg also says it credits Zuckerberg for shares he still owns even if he intends to donate them later, while it does not credit him with certain share-sale proceeds used to fund philanthropy.

  • Market value: Meta’s stock price is the largest driver of day-to-day changes.
  • Ownership records: Shares held through trusts or holding companies can require interpretation.
  • Other adjustments: Services may differ in their treatment of cash, private assets, taxes, liabilities, real estate and charitable transfers.
  • Snapshot date: A figure without a date can quickly become stale.

What the 99% pledge means for his wealth

In December 2015, Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, announced an intention to give away 99% of their Meta shares during their lifetimes for philanthropic and other public-interest purposes. That is a pledge about future giving, not evidence that 99% has already been donated, and it should not be restated as a claim that he has given away 99% of all his wealth.

A pledge by itself does not necessarily remove shares from a current estimate. The relevant distinctions are whether shares remain owned, have been transferred to a charitable vehicle, have been sold to raise funds, or have already supported grants. Bloomberg’s stated approach counts shares Zuckerberg still owns even if he plans to donate them, but excludes certain sale proceeds used for philanthropy. How a particular transfer affects an estimate depends on the facts and on the estimator’s methodology.

Why his estimated net worth can change by billions

When a fortune is concentrated in publicly traded shares, a change in the share price changes the estimated value of that stake even if the owner makes no sale and receives no new paycheck. Meta price movements are the central factor for Zuckerberg; share-count updates, transfers or sales, exchange rates, and the services’ assumptions about taxes, philanthropy, property and liabilities can also affect the published total. Without a current price, current ownership data and a defensible treatment of those adjustments, a homemade calculation would imply more precision than the evidence supports.
